The successful candidate is naturally curious, asks thoughtful questions, and can uncover compelling stories within complex subjects. They are equally comfortable developing high-level messaging and creating the headlines, calls to action, and content that bring those ideas to life.

This is a project-based independent contractor position that offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to support multiple Rainbow Companies brands.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and refine website content, including headlines, page copy, calls to action, and supporting messaging for new and existing websites.
  • Create blog articles, educational resources, and long-form content that transforms subject matter expertise into engaging and valuable information for audiences.
  • Write compelling social media content that supports brand awareness, marketing initiatives, and educational campaigns.

  • Ensure messaging remains consistent with established brand voice, tone, and communication standards.
  • Contribute ideas that support content strategy, audience engagement, and digital marketing objectives.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining quality and attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Exceptional copywriting, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience writing content for websites, digital marketing, and other online platforms.
  • Ability to understand audience needs and create content from the reader's perspective.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to translate complex or technical information into approachable and engaging content.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a freelance or contract environment.
  • High attention to detail, organization, and commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with B2B marketing.
  • Background creating content for science, plant health care, horticulture, arboriculture, environmental services, or other technical industries.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and digital content strategy.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, web developers, and creative teams.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted content workflows while maintaining a strong editorial voice and human-centered storytelling approach.

Compensation
$35-$50 per hour, depending on experience, expertise, and project scope.
