Role Description The Freight Broker will manage day-to-day freight operations, including sourcing carriers, negotiating rates, and coordinating shipments for meat and fresh produce. This full-time hybrid role is based in Brantford, ON, with flexibility for some work from home. Responsibilities include building and maintaining customer and carrier relationships, overseeing dispatch activities, and ensuring on-time delivery and issue resolution. The Freight Broker will track loads, update customers on shipment status, and handle documentation for cross-border transportation. The role also involves identifying new business opportunities and collaborating with internal teams to improve service and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong Freight Brokerage and Brokerage skills, with experience arranging and managing truckload and cross-border shipments.
• Customer Service and Account Management skills to build long-term relationships and provide responsive, solution-oriented support.
• Dispatching experience, including coordinating drivers, scheduling pickups and deliveries, and monitoring load progress.
• Knowledge of transportation, logistics, and temperature-controlled freight, ideally in meat and fresh produce.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment from Brantford, ON, managing priorities independently and within a team.
• Proficiency with transportation management systems and common office software.
• Previous experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or trucking operations; relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience is an asset.
