We are seeking an experienced Front Desk / Insurance Authorization Specialist to join our growing medical practice. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in medical front office operations, insurance verification, and prior authorizations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, delivers exceptional patient service, and is comfortable handling a high volume of inbound and outbound calls. Responsibilities Answer and manage a high volume of inbound and outbound patient calls professionally and efficiently. Schedule new and existing patient appointments, coordinate follow-up visits, and manage patient recall lists. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments. Obtain and track prior authorizations through insurance payer portals and other authorization platforms. Prepare patients for telemedicine appointments by completing intake and screening questions, documenting relevant information for the provider. Update and maintain accurate patient records within the EMR system. Coordinate with providers, patients, and insurance companies to ensure timely patient care. Provide outstanding customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. If you are an organized, patient-focused professional with experience in medical front office operations and insurance authorizations, we'd love to hear from you! Minimum of 2 years of medical front office experience , preferably in Podiatry, Dermatology, Orthopedics, or Sports Medicine . Proven experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations . Strong knowledge of insurance payer portals and authorization processes. Experience managing a high volume of patient phone calls. Comfortable interviewing patients and collecting clinical intake information for telemedicine visits. Experience scheduling appointments and coordinating patient follow-up care. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Experience with Practice Fusion EMR is strongly preferred. Experience with Weave VoIP phone system is strongly preferred. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple priorities. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a specialty medical practice. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical office workflows. Comfortable learning new software and adapting to evolving processes. Please note that this is a full-time contractor position (40 hours per week) with a negotiable pay rate depending on skillset and experience. The schedule is Monday through Friday, from 10 AM to 6 PM PST.
