We are seeking a seasoned, detail-oriented Full-Cycle Revenue Medical Biller with specialized dermatology billing expertise to support a high-volume dermatology practice. In this role, you will take complete ownership of the end-to-end revenue cycle—from reviewing specialty coding to resolving complex denials, managing patient balances, and driving outstanding A/R recovery. The ideal candidate possesses deep familiarity with dermatology procedures, demonstrates a proactive mindset toward uncollected claims, and brings recent, hands-on mastery of ModMed (Modernizing Medicine) . Working Environment & Core Schedule Status: Full-Time (40 Hours / Week) Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST (US Eastern Standard Time) VA's Top 3 Daily Tasks Full-Cycle Dermatology Billing & Claims Submission: Review CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding for dermatology procedures; generate, audit, and submit clean primary/secondary claims. A/R & Aging Management: Work insurance aging reports, investigate unpaid or underpaid claims, post insurance payments (EOBs/ERAs), and file appeals/reconsiderations. Patient Ledger & Billing Documentation: Verify patient balances, resolve billing discrepancies, and maintain complete, accurate billing notes within ModMed. Core Responsibilities Dermatology Coding & Claim Auditing: Review and verify CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes specific to general, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology prior to claim submission. Denial & Appeals Management: Investigate rejected or denied claims, correct coding/modifier errors, resubmit clean claims, and file formal appeals or reconsiderations. Payment Posting & Reconciliation: Accurately post insurance payments, contractual adjustments, and patient co-pays/coinsurance from EOBs and ERAs. A/R & Insurance Follow-Up: Conduct persistent follow-up with commercial and government payers on unpaid, underpaid, and outstanding claims exceeding 30+ days in aging. Patient Balance Verification: Review patient ledgers, verify balances when necessary, and ensure accurate financial recordkeeping. Documentation & Trend Identification: Maintain accurate, detailed billing notes and proactively identify systemic trends affecting reimbursement or collections to improve workflow. Required Qualifications Specialty Billing Background: Proven full-cycle medical billing experience supporting a Dermatology practice. Software Requirement (Non-Negotiable): Recent, direct hands-on experience using ModMed (Modernizing Medicine / EMA) . Coding Proficiency: Solid command of dermatology-specific CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding, along with proper modifier usage. Revenue Cycle Mastery: Comprehensive end-to-end RCM experience across claims submission, denial management, ERA/EOB payment posting, and A/R aging follow-up. Proactive Ownership: Self-starter mindset with the confidence to review codes, identify billing errors, and take ownership of unresolved claims without waiting for direction. Communication Skills: Fluent written and spoken English for detailed documentation and clear communication with insurance representatives and practice management. Remote Setup: A private, HIPAA-compliant home workspace equipped with a reliable computer setup (PC/Mac), high-speed internet, and a clear headset. Preferred Qualifications Advanced Modifier Mastery: Deep familiarity with complex dermatology billing modifiers (e.g., Modifier 25, 59, or XS/XE/XP/XU). Cosmetic vs. Medical Billing: Background handling practices that blend medical dermatology with elective or cosmetic procedure billing. Ideal Candidate Profile You are a tenacious, sharp dermatology biller who knows ModMed inside and out. You understand the entire revenue cycle end-to-end, spot coding errors before submission, and take personal pride in recovering outstanding A/R.
