The Software Engineer is responsible for building new features, enhancing existing functionality, and providing ongoing The Software Engineer is responsible for contributing to new feature development, supporting enhancement efforts, and assisting in the maintenance of First Advantage’s fingerprinting and background screening products. Working within a high‑volume and security‑sensitive environment, the Software Engineer will participate in the full software development lifecycle under the guidance of senior team members. Responsibilities include implementing well‑defined components, supporting software verification activities, contributing to automated quality assurance, documenting code and processes, and applying established team standards and best practices. This role is well‑suited for an engineer early in their career who is eager to learn, comfortable with open‑ended requirements, curious about emerging technologies such as AI, and willing to research and grow within a complex and evolving technical ecosystem. Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Assist in planning application enhancements by analyzing requirements and contributing to design discussions · Implement well‑scoped features and improvements using C#, .NET, Razor Pages, and RESTful APIs · Validate and troubleshoot services using Postman and other defined tools · Contribute to automated testing using Playwright and related frameworks · Create and update automated tests using Playwright and related frameworks · Write SQL queries and support data‑related tasks in Microsoft SQL Server · Participate in cloud deployment tasks using Azure services following established team processes · Collaborate using GitHub for source control and support CI/CD automation via GitHub Actions · Assist in production support by helping investigate issues and participating in release activities · Conduct research to support tasks with ambiguous or evolving requirements · Maintain documentation for components, processes, and technical decisions · Engage in training, peer learning, code reviews, and professional development activities · Work collaboratively within the team and communicate progress, roadblocks, and ideas effectively Job Qualifications Education: · Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent education or experience Experience: · 0–2 years of hands‑on programming experience using C#/.NET or related technologies · Foundational understanding of relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server · Basic familiarity with object‑oriented programming, design patterns, and modern web development concepts · Exposure to RESTful API development and common standards such as JSON and XML · Coursework, internship experience, or hobby‑level exposure to Azure or other cloud platforms · Experience (academic, internship, or professional) using GitHub · Familiarity with Postman, Playwright, or similar tools is a plus · Ability to troubleshoot straightforward issues and follow established debugging practices · Interest in leveraging AI tools for learning and productivity, while maintaining independent problem‑solving skills · Strong communication skills, willingness to ask questions, and a collaborative, growth‑oriented mindset Value-Add Skills: · Exposure to NoSQL databases (e.g., CosmosDB, MongoDB) · Experience with MVC, MVVM, or other architectural patterns · Familiarity with Visual Studio, VS Code, or comparable development tools Other Requirements: · For compliance reasons, all personnel must be United States Citizens and have, for 3 of the past 5 years, resided in the United States OR worked for the United States overseas in a federal or military capacity OR be a dependent of a federal or military employee serving overseas.
