Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Full-Stack Engineer to build and harden Salud Healthcare's internal application portfolio and supporting services — on a modern Azure stack. This is an engineer-first, execution-focused role: you will ship features end-to-end (API and UI), write real tests, review peers' code, and help raise the bar on delivery discipline as we mature our engineering practice. You will work alongside a distributed team across multiple time zones and report to the Director, BI & Data Engineering. You will handle Protected Health Information (PHI) and are expected to build with security, correctness, and operability in mind — not just working code, but code we can verify, deploy safely, and trust in production.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development

• Build and refactor features across the backend (Python / FastAPI) and frontend (React / TypeScript, and lightweight vanilla-JS surfaces), from ticket to production.
• Design clean REST APIs, data models, and SQL migrations against Azure SQL.
• Own end-to-end delivery of the features you take on — not just the happy path.

Quality & Reliability

• Write unit and regression tests; keep the build green; review teammates' pull requests.
• Close the class of defects that has hurt us before — silent failures, data-handling bugs, and environment drift — by asserting on effect (did the change actually happen?), not just that code ran.
• Help keep dev / QA / prod in parity so defects surface before they ship.

Data & Integrations

• Wire applications to Azure SQL, Key Vault, and the Databricks (EDW 2.0) Gold layer using managed identities and least-privilege access.
• Consume governed data/reporting feeds; respect the read-only contract to the EDW.

Security & Compliance

• Handle PHI in line with HIPAA safeguards; no plaintext secrets in code, pipelines, or config.
• Use Entra ID (OIDC/JWT), managed identities, and role-based access correctly in every environment.

Engineering Practice

• Operate inside our 2-week sprint cadence — planning, stand-ups, retros — on US-Eastern-friendly hours; write clean tickets, PRs, and commit messages (JIRA, GitHub, Confluence).
• Use CI/CD with PR review and branch protection.
• Adopt AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) as part of your daily workflow — to multiply output while keeping human review and tests in front of every change.

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years building production web applications end-to-end (backend APIs + frontend.
• Strong Python with a modern web framework (FastAPI, Flask, or similar).
• Solid React / TypeScript and comfort with HTML/CSS.
• Production SQL — schema design, queries, and migrations (PostgreSQL, SQL Server / Azure SQL, or equivalent).
• Hands-on experience with a major cloud (Azure preferred) and container-based deployment (Docker).
• CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions or equivalent) and disciplined Git / PR workflows.
• A genuine testing habit — you write tests as part of the work, not after.
• Strong written English and the ability to work async-first across time zones (Slack, JIRA, GitHub, Confluence).
• Minimum 4 hours of daily overlap with the US Eastern time zone.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Azure Container Apps / App Service, Key Vault, and Entra / Azure AD authentication (OAuth2, OIDC).
• Experience consuming a Databricks / SQL-warehouse data layer.
• Healthcare or other regulated-industry experience; familiarity with HIPAA, HITECH, and PHI handling.
• Exposure to healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, X12) or BI tooling.
• Prior experience on a fully remote, multi-time-zone team.
• A track record using AI-assisted coding tools in a professional workflow.
