ACU Dallas is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Full-Time Online Faculty Member in Mathematics. This position will be responsible for teaching undergraduate mathematics courses in an asynchronous online environment, designing curriculum grounded in sound educational pedagogy, and mentoring students. The ideal candidate will combine strong mathematical expertise with a deep commitment to online instructional excellence, innovative educational methods, and faith integration in the digital classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching & Instructional Excellence: Teach full-time undergraduate mathematics courses delivered asynchronously through Canvas LMS.
- Curriculum & Pedagogical Design: Apply contemporary educational pedagogy, adult learning theories, and evidence-based teaching strategies to develop and refine online math coursework.
- Student Engagement & Support: Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work, maintain an active virtual presence, host regular online office hours, and support student retention and success.
- Technology Utilization: Effectively utilize educational technology, digital math tools (e.g., graphing software, digital whiteboards, adaptive learning systems), and Canvas features to foster interactive learning.
- Faith Integration: Articulate and integrate a Christian worldview thoughtfully into subject matter, engaging students in holistic development.
- Departmental & University Service: Participate in faculty meetings, assessment processes, committee assignments, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Required: Master’s degree in Mathematics.
- Preferred: A terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field.
- Required: Demonstrated background or formal coursework in education and educational pedagogy.
- Required: Teaching experience in both traditional (in-person) and online higher education settings.
Technical Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- Strong overall technological literacy, including comfort with video communication tools, digital grading systems, and math-specific instructional technology.
Faith & Mission Alignment
- Must be a professing Christian who models an active Christian lifestyle and actively serves in their local church/community.
- Active affiliation with the Churches of Christ is strongly preferred, in alignment with ACU’s heritage and mission.
