About Us

Thames Tech Consulting [one to two sentences on what the company does and who it serves]. We help our clients design and deliver AI-powered solutions, and we're looking for an experienced engineer to join us on a contract basis.

The Role

We're seeking a contract AI Engineer with at least 3 years of hands-on experience building AI workflows. You'll design, build, and deploy LLM-powered solutions end to end, from Python backend services to React front-ends. This role suits someone who has already shipped AI systems into production and can work independently with clients and internal teams.

What You'll Do

Design and implement AI workflows using large language models, including prompt engineering, tool/function calling, multi-step agentic pipelines, and workflow orchestration.

Build Python backend services and APIs (FastAPI, Flask, or Django) that connect LLMs to client data sources, vector databases, and third-party systems.

Develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines covering document ingestion, embedding, and retrieval.

Create clean, responsive React interfaces (TypeScript preferred) for AI features such as chat, streaming responses, and review/approval steps.

Evaluate and improve workflow quality, accuracy, latency, and cost.

Deploy, monitor, and document solutions so clients and internal teams can maintain them.

Requirements

3+ years of professional experience building AI workflows with LLMs, with at least one project running in production.

Strong Python skills and solid experience with React.

Hands-on experience with LLM APIs and frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangGraph, or direct SDK integrations).

Familiarity with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, pgvector, Weaviate) and embedding models.

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Docker, and CI/CD.

Clear communication skills and confidence working directly with clients.

Nice to Have

Experience with workflow automation tools (n8n, Make, Zapier) or building agents with Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Knowledge of LLM security risks such as prompt injection and data privacy.

Consulting or client-facing project experience.
