FullStack Engineer

ROLE PURPOSE ROLE PURPOSE This role owns feature delivery end-to-end across iiDENTIFii's stack from backend services and the data layer through to the web interfaces our clients and internal teams use. You are responsible for designing, building, testing, and shipping features that meet the exacting quality, security, and performance standards of a biometric identity platform used by tier-1 financial institutions. This is a hands-on engineering role operating at the intersection of backend architecture, API design, and front-end craft. You will work closely with product managers, mobile engineers, and QA teams across all stages of the development lifecycle; from requirements and architecture through to release and ongoing optimisation. You bring both technical depth and a high standard of craft: clean, maintainable code on both sides of the stack, thoughtful UX, rigorous testing, and a genuine interest in getting the details right. Operating in a security-sensitive, compliance-heavy domain, you are expected to bring sound judgement to architecture decisions, stay current with the evolving web and cloud landscape, and contribute to a culture of technical excellence across the engineering team. ROLE TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES ROLE TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES Application Development & Architecture Design and build scalable, reliable backend services and APIs, and the web front-ends that consume them, ensuring responsiveness, performance, and a seamless experience end-to-end Own features from concept through to implementation; scoping, architecture, build, test, and release across both server and client Architect, design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs alongside the database schemas and datastores that back them Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, refine, and implement new features that align with product strategy and client needs Identify and implement performance improvements on the server (query optimisation, caching, scalability) and in the browser (load time, responsiveness) that meaningfully enhance production reliability Stay current with backend and front-end trends, emerging technologies, and best practices — and bring relevant opportunities to the team proactively Engineering Standards & Code Quality Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in C# / ASP.NET on the backend and a modern JavaScript/TypeScript framework (React or Angular) on the front-end Apply SOLID principles and sound architectural patterns including microservices and event-driven design where appropriate to produce code that scales and survives production Implement authentication, authorisation, and API security in line with best practice and regulatory requirements Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive technical feedback and upholding engineering standards across the team Maintain clear technical documentation covering architecture decisions, API contracts, coding standards, and design rationale Optimise code for speed, scalability, and maintainability; identify and resolve technical debt proactively Testing, Debugging & Quality Assurance Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests across both backend services and front-end components Apply TDD/BDD best practices and maintain well-tested, reliable code as a non-negotiable standard Work with QA teams to design and implement automated testing strategies that reduce manual effort and increase release confidence Debug and resolve production issues promptly, conducting root cause analysis and sharing learnings with the broader team UI/UX Implementation Translate design specifications into performant, accessible, pixel-accurate front-end code Ensure web applications meet high-quality UI/UX standards and are consistent with iiDENTIFii's design system and brand Partner with design and product to help shape user flows, not just implement them Integration, Middleware & DevOps Integrate backend services with third-party APIs, message queues, caching layers, and monitoring/logging platforms Collaborate with DevOps engineers on CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure reliability Use version control systems (Git) with discipline: clear branching strategies, meaningful commit messages, and clean pull request hygiene Collaboration & Communication Work effectively in an agile environment with cross-functional teams — product, design, QA, mobile, and DevOps — to deliver high-quality features on time Communicate technical concepts clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Provide technical guidance and knowledge-sharing to team members; contribute to a culture of continuous learning and mutual accountability AI-Augmented Ways of Working Use AI tools as a standard, expected part of the role — a core professional competency, not optional Apply AI to accelerate code generation, debugging, documentation, test writing, and technical research across both backend and front-end Leverage AI to explore architectural options, evaluate trade-offs, and surface solutions faster than traditional approaches allow Model AI-augmented engineering practices for the broader team and contribute to embedding them into team norms Stay current with the evolving AI tooling landscape and proactively identify opportunities to increase productivity and output quality Living the iiDENTIFii Culture Champion iiDENTIFii's culture and values in every interaction — with teammates, product, and across the engineering function Foster a team environment defined by intellectual rigour, psychological safety, collaborative excellence, and a bias for action Actively contribute to iiDENTIFii's mission: powering innovators in remote biometric digital authentication, globally QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL SKILLS NEEDED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL SKILLS NEEDED Experience Proven experience as a full stack developer, with a portfolio of shipped applications spanning backend services and web front-ends Demonstrated experience building end-to-end applications: from data modelling and API design through front-end implementation, testing, deployment, and production support Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams alongside product, design, QA, mobile, and DevOps Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle and production engineering discipline Experience contributing to code reviews, technical documentation, and best-practice engineering standards Exposure to performance optimisation, scalability challenges, and production support at scale Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices Understanding of modern software architecture concepts such as microservices and event-driven systems Technical Skills Backend: Proficiency in C# and ASP.NET / .NET Core; experience designing and securing RESTful APIs Databases: Proficiency in SQL Server, SQL syntax, and relational database design; experience optimising schemas for performance and scale Front-End: Proficiency in a modern JavaScript/TypeScript framework such as React or Angular, and solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web standards Cloud & DevOps: Basic experience with public cloud infrastructure (Azure, GCP, or AWS); familiarity with Docker and CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps or Jenkins Logging & Monitoring: Experience with logging frameworks and platforms such as Sentry.io, SeriLog, Log4Net, or Azure Application Insights Version Control: Experience with Git/GitHub and disciplined source control practices Testing: Strong debugging, testing, and performance-tuning skills; TDD/BDD exposure Architecture: Understanding of Computer Science fundamentals — data structures, object-oriented design, algorithm design, and complexity analysis Education A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field;
