Fullstack Java + React Developer (Java/Spring Boot/React + AI Tooling) - Portugal Remote

The project

We're looking for two Full Stack Engineers, one Senior and one Mid-level, to join a product-focused team in a major retail organisation, working on high-traffic digital platforms used by a large customer base.

You'll work across backend and frontend, building and operating scalable services and modern web applications. The team follows a strong engineering culture around automation, CI/CD, observability, and AI-assisted development, with engineers owning features end to end.

Stack: Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, MySQL, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes

Location: Full Remote – Portugal

Compensation: €2,550 – €3,350/month net, depending on experience and seniority level.

What you need

• Commercial experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.x
• Experience building distributed systems, REST APIs, and microservices
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript and React experience
• Experience with MySQL, including schema design and query optimisation
• Hands-on AWS experience
• Understanding of software testing, code quality, CI/CD, and containerisation
• Experience with monitoring and observability practices
• Practical experience using AI tools for development, with the ability to validate and improve AI-generated output
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills
• Fluent English (mandatory)

Nice to have: Next.js, Kubernetes, Kafka, modern observability tools, and experience in large-scale retail or eCommerce environments.
