Funding Specialist

Role Description The Funding Specialist is a full-time, on-site and remote role based in Pretoria. This role is responsible for identifying and securing funding opportunities from donors, sponsors, grants, and investment partners to support SwimAfrica’s programs and growth. Day-to-day tasks include researching potential funders, preparing funding proposals, maintaining accurate financial and funding records, and tracking ongoing funding applications and commitments. The Funding Specialist will collaborate with program and finance teams to align funding needs with project budgets, develop compelling funding narratives, and ensure compliance with funder requirements. The role also involves building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, preparing reports for funders, and presenting funding progress to internal leadership.
Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills and Finance capabilities to assess funding opportunities, budgets, and financial sustainability.
• Candidates should possess Funding and Investments experience to source, secure, and manage diverse income streams for programs and initiatives.
• Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to prepare proposals, reports, and presentations, and to engage professionally with funders and partners.
• Relevant experience in fundraising, grant writing, or non-profit financial management is beneficial.
• A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Development Studies, or a related field is advantageous.
• Proficiency in spreadsheet and financial tracking tools, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively on-site in Pretoria, with a commitment to ethical and transparent financial practices.
