The Public Engagement team is responsible for developing and delivering the strategy that will drive significant, long-term income growth by inspiring and engaging public audiences to support the work of the NSPCC.
The Direct Fundraising team plays a vital role in recruiting and engaging supporters through face-to-face fundraising channels, helping to generate sustainable income while ensuring an excellent supporter experience and maintaining the highest standards of compliance and safeguarding.
We can offer the opportunity to work from home or on a hybrid basis, with 1 day per week in our central London office. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements.
What is the purpose of the Direct Fundraising Fundraiser role?
Reporting to the Associate Head of Direct Fundraising, you'll support the delivery, monitoring and optimisation of face-to-face fundraising campaigns that recruit and engage supporters across the UK.
You'll work closely with internal teams and external agency partners to ensure fundraising activity is delivered effectively, compliantly and in line with organisational objectives. You'll also play an important role in helping us provide an excellent supporter experience while protecting the NSPCC's reputation and upholding our values.
You'll Contribute By
- Supporting the planning and delivery of face-to-face fundraising campaigns.
- Monitoring campaign performance, income and expenditure to ensure activity achieves agreed objectives.
- Supporting compliance monitoring through activities such as mystery shopping and call listening.
- Working with agency partners to ensure fundraising activity is supporter-focused and aligned with NSPCC values.
- Assisting with financial and administrative processes including purchase orders, invoicing and budget reporting.
- Collaborating with colleagues across Engagement and Fundraising to maximise supporter engagement and income.
What will I be doing as a Direct Fundraising Fundraiser?
- Support the day-to-day delivery and optimisation of face-to-face fundraising campaigns.
- Monitor campaign performance and key performance indicators, identifying opportunities to improve results and supporter experience.
- Produce accurate reports and analysis to support campaign evaluation and decision making.
- Coordinate and undertake compliance monitoring activities, including mystery shopping, call listening and quality assurance reviews.
- Work closely with external agencies to ensure activity complies with fundraising regulations, codes of practice and NSPCC policies.
- Support campaign setup and delivery, working with colleagues across Engagement and Fundraising, Compliance, Finance and other teams.
- Manage financial administration processes, including raising purchase orders, processing invoices and monitoring expenditure against budget.
- Build effective relationships with agency partners and internal stakeholders to ensure campaigns are delivered successfully.
- Maintain awareness of developments in fundraising regulation, compliance requirements and sector best practice.
- Contribute to projects and initiatives that support wider Public Engagement objectives.
What skills do I need to be a Direct Fundraising Fundraiser?
- Experience supporting the delivery of fundraising, marketing or supporter engagement campaigns, ideally within a charity or customer-focused environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to a range of audiences.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data, identify opportunities and present insights that support decision making.
- Experience working with budgets, financial information and performance reporting.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience building effective relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers or agency partners.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and other business systems and databases.
- Understanding of fundraising regulations, compliance requirements and sector best practice, or the ability to quickly develop expertise in these areas.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing team and demonstrate flexibility to support activities such as agency visits and compliance monitoring across the UK.
