Senior GCP Cloud Engineer

Location: Johannesburg or Cape Town (Hybrid: 2.5 to 3 days per week on-site)

Remuneration: Up to R120,000 per month + performance bonuses

If you know Google Cloud Platform inside out and want to build systems for complex client environments, this role delivers. We are recruiting a Senior GCP Cloud Engineer for a premier South African technology consultancy operating in finance, data, fintech, and payments.

What you will be doing:

• Designing, implementing, and securing scalable cloud architectures on GCP.
• Managing and optimising cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
• Building automation scripts, monitoring environments, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions.
• Providing advanced infrastructure troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
• Working alongside cross-functional development, operations, and security teams.

What you need to bring:

• A minimum of 3 years in cloud engineering, with at least 2 years of hands-on GCP experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
• Solid technical execution across key GCP tools: Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub.
• Strong scripting capability in Python or Bash.
• Practical knowledge of cloud networking, security controls, and compliance standards.
• A GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification is a strong plus.
