ALTEN is supporting one of the UK's largest and most complex nuclear new build programmes, Hinkley Point C (HPC). We are seeking a talented Geotechnical Engineer to join our engineering team in Bristol and contribute to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure and nuclear construction activities. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will provide geotechnical expertise throughout the design, assessment, construction and operation phases of major civil engineering works. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a nationally significant project while developing your career within a leading engineering consultancy. Key Responsibilities: Deliver geotechnical engineering assessments and technical studies for major infrastructure projects. Review and interpret ground investigation data, laboratory testing and geological reports. Support foundation design, earthworks, retaining structures and slope stability assessments. Prepare geotechnical calculations, technical reports and design documentation. Collaborate with civil, structural and construction teams to ensure safe and efficient project delivery. Review contractor submissions and provide technical recommendations. Identify and manage geotechnical risks, ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements. Participate in design reviews, technical meetings and stakeholder discussions. Required Skills: Experience working in geotechnical engineering within infrastructure, energy, nuclear, rail or major construction projects. Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering and ground investigation techniques. Experience using relevant geotechnical software and analytical tools. Ability to prepare and review technical reports and engineering calculations. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Knowledge of UK engineering standards and regulations. Required Qualifications: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering , or equivalent military experience . Desirable Skills: Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership (ICE, GeolSoc or equivalent). Experience within highly regulated industries such as nuclear, defence or energy. Familiarity with Eurocodes and UK design standards. Experience working on large-scale infrastructure programmes. Why join us?
