Geotechnical Engineer, Technical Assurance (AI Systems)

KorrAI
Posted 1 hour ago
🇨🇦Canada🏠Remote💰$80.0K–$120.0K📁Engineering & Development
Is this job info correct?

KorrAI builds TRAIL, software that geotechnical and closure engineers use to find and cross-reference what is already known about a site: instrumentation records, ground deformation, design reports, risk registers, closure plans. Every answer TRAIL gives points back to a source document and page, because the engineers using it have to defend those answers in a report carrying their seal. We are hiring an engineer with closure and tailings experience, not a software developer. The job is to decide whether TRAIL's answers would hold up if an Engineer of Record put them in front of an independent reviewer. What you'll do: Write the review questions we test the system against, drawn from work you have actually done: DSRs, annual monitoring reports, TARP triggers and escalations, GISTM conformance evidence, permit and closure plan submissions Read the system's answers and score them: whether the numbers are right, whether anything important is missing, whether the citation supports what the answer claims, and whether you would put it in front of a client Write up what went wrong in enough technical detail that our developers can act on it, then work alongside them while they fix it Take on client engineering and remote sensing work as it comes up. You stay in practice, and what you learn on those files goes straight back into the assurance work Set priorities on what TRAIL has to get right, reporting directly to the founders Your first 90 days: Month 1: Ramp on TRAIL and the mine closure corpus, then run your first evaluation pass against a public closure record (the Faro Mine Complex), documenting every answer you'd challenge as a reviewer Month 2: Turn that into benchmark v1: realistic scenarios with expert rubrics, and calibrate our automated grading against your judgment Month 3: Deliver the first failure-mode taxonomy and run an improvement cycle with engineering, so by day 90 there's a measurable before-and-after you own Who we're looking for: Geotechnical engineer, engineering geologist, or closure specialist with 2 to 4 years on TSF monitoring, dam safety, or closure planning Working knowledge of GISTM and ICMM guidance, credible failure modes, OMS manuals, relinquishment criteria Experience with risk assessment and management, or with mine compliance and regulatory reporting, is an asset EIT, P.Eng, P.Geo, or equivalent is an asset Detail-oriented, and you don't mind working through large volumes of material. A lot of this job is reading closely and noticing the one number or qualifier that changes the answer You have tried AI tools on your own work and formed an opinion about where they fall short. Skepticism is welcome and probably more useful to us than enthusiasm You write clearly. Most of this job is written, and the team is distributed No programming required If you have worked closure files, you know how much of the effort goes into locating the right document and confirming what it actually says. This role decides how much of that work gets automated and where it should not be. Full-time is our preference. If you are the right candidate and full-time does not work right now, part-time or contract is open for discussion. Tell us what you need. Visa: US citizenship/visa not required.
