Senior Project Manager / Expert in Acoustic Engineering & Noise Control (m/f/d)

Location: Freising, Germany (Hybrid / Up to 4 days remote after onboarding)

Salary: €60,000 – €70,000 gross p.a. + Uncapped Revenue Share (Realistically up to €20,000+)

Employment Type: Permanent / Full-time (Part-time / 4-day week options negotiable)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Project Manager / Expert in Acoustic Engineering & Noise Control (m/f/d) to join an established, highly specialized engineering consultancy based in the heart of Freising. Operating as part of an elite team within one of Bavaria's accredited measurement bodies, you will take ownership of comprehensive noise immission control projects from inception to completion.

This position offers a rare blend of technical autonomy, direct client interaction, fieldwork, and strategic project management, backed by a collaborative, flat-hierarchy environment with direct access to executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independent Acoustic Studies: Conduct comprehensive noise immission studies and expert reports (Gutachten) focusing on traffic, rail, industrial, and sport/leisure noise, particularly within the framework of urban land-use planning (Bauleitplanung).
  • Field Measurements: Plan, execute, and analyze on-site noise measurements using state-of-the-art equipment (such as Brüel & Kjær devices), interpreting complex acoustic data.
  • Full Project Lifecycle Management: Own projects end-to-end—from initial proposal creation and cost estimation to final delivery, invoicing authorization, and client handover.
  • Parallel Portfolio Management: Successfully juggle 10 to 20 concurrent projects, maintaining rigorous oversight of timelines, milestones, and revenue targets.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, municipal authorities, and internal teams, mediating requirements and ensuring regulatory compliance under the four-eyes principle.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

Must-Haves:

  • Education: University degree (Bachelor, Master, or Diplom) in Engineering, Physics, Environmental Sciences, or a comparable technical/natural science discipline.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of professional working experience in environmental acoustics, sound protection, and specifically hands-on noise assessment within urban land-use planning (Bauleitplanung across road, rail, industrial, or recreational sectors).
  • Language Skills: Native or C2-level proficiency in German (written and spoken) to draft legal-grade expert reports and communicate smoothly with local authorities.
  • Technical Literacy: Advanced proficiency in standard office productivity suites (MS Office).
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, high resilience, self-initiative, a positive problem-solving attitude, and clear, empathetic communication.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Practical proficiency in acoustic simulation software such as CadnaA (or alternative tools like SoundPLAN / IMMI).
  • Prior experience working within an officially accredited measurement station (Messstelle).
  • Familiarity with specialized acoustic measurement hardware (e.g., Brüel & Kjær).

Working Environment & On-Site Policy

  • Onboarding & Location: Located in a modern, historic-flair office in downtown Freising. Initial on-site presence is required during the 3–6 month onboarding period.
  • Remote Work: Following successful integration, flexibility is provided with up to 3 to 4 days of remote work (Home Office) per week.
  • Travel Requirements: Low-frequency travel consisting of approximately 2 to 3 local/regional site visits per month, occasional night measurements, and roughly 1 to 2 overnight stays per year. Pool/rental cars are provided for site travel.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Base Salary: €60,000 to €70,000 gross per annum, commensurate with experience.
  • Performance Incentives: Uncapped annual revenue share model, offering a realistic earning potential of up to an additional €20,000+.
  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible core working hours (10:00–15:00), option for a 4-day work week or reduced-hour schedules, and 30 days of paid vacation.
  • Professional Development: Ongoing structured training, clear career trajectories (including pathways toward official measurement station leadership), and direct influence over company processes.
  • Additional Perks: Tax-free corporate benefits, commuting subsidies, regular team events, and complimentary office beverages and snacks.
