GIS Specialist

Your Responsibilities

GIS Support & Spatial Analysis: Execute spatial calculations, geoprocessing, and spatial modeling to support the Energy and Industry Geography Lab team.

Data Management & Quality Assurance: Create, maintain, and curate spatial datasets using PostgreSQL/PostGIS, ensuring compliance with INSPIRE directives, ISO standards, and data quality rules.

Automation & Web Development: Develop Python/R scripts to automate workflows and build OGC-compliant web mapping applications (WMS, WFS, WMTS).

Cartography & Visualization: Design high-quality maps and geographical visualisations following cartographic, scale, and accessibility standards.

Remote Sensing & Earth Observation: Process and analyze satellite imagery (Copernicus, Sentinel, Landsat) for change detection and environmental monitoring.

System Integration & Administration: Integrate GIS platforms with enterprise systems (APIs, BI tools) and manage platform user roles, security, and performance.

Your Profile

Experience: Minimum 10 years of professional experience with GIS software, database handling, and spatial analysis.

Core Software & Databases: Advanced hands-on proficiency in QGIS and ArcGIS Pro, along with spatial database management (PostgreSQL/PostGIS or Oracle Spatial).

Scripting & Web Mapping: Strong programming skills in Python, R, or JavaScript for workflow automation, plus knowledge of web mapping tools (e.g., Leaflet, Mapbox, ArcGIS Online).

Standards & Remote Sensing: Deep knowledge of Earth Observation data (Copernicus/Sentinel) and international GI standards (OGC, ISO 19115, INSPIRE).

Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, strong problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work effectively both autonomously and within a remote, multilingual team.

Certifications (Optional): Esri Technical Certifications (e.g., ArcGIS Pro Associate/Professional) and knowledge of French are assets.
