About IDA and the Coalition
The Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA) is an international non-profit organization committed to advancing infectious disease prevention and treatment through collaboration, sustainable financing, and stronger health systems.
IDA hosts the Global Health Finance Coalition (GHFC), a cross-sector platform bringing together civil society, governments, international organizations, philanthropy, and the private sector to address critical gaps in global health financing.
As the coalition grows, we are looking for an experienced global health professional who would like to contribute their leadership, expertise, and networks to advancing this important mission on a voluntary basis.
Reporting and Collaboration
Reports to: IDA Leadership / Executive Director
Collaborates with: GHFC members, IDA policy and communications teams, international partners, and external stakeholders.
The Opportunity
The GHFC Director is a senior voluntary leadership position offering an opportunity to shape the coalition's strategic direction, represent it in international discussions, and bring together partners committed to more equitable and sustainable global health financing.
This role is particularly suited to an experienced professional who wishes to contribute to global health beyond their existing professional commitments, share their expertise, and help build a growing international coalition.
Working closely with IDA leadership and coalition members, the Director will provide strategic guidance, strengthen partnerships, and support collective advocacy efforts.
The role offers meaningful leadership and influence while recognizing the flexible nature of a voluntary contribution.
Areas of Contribution
1. Strategic Leadership
• Help shape the coalition's vision, priorities, and strategic direction.
• Contribute to the development of an achievable annual action plan.
• Provide senior-level guidance on global health financing challenges and opportunities.
• Help identify opportunities where the coalition can make a meaningful difference.
2. Coalition Building and Partnerships
• Use professional experience and networks to connect the coalition with relevant global health actors.
• Encourage collaboration among members, partners, policymakers, and funders.
• Support the engagement of new coalition members and strengthen existing relationships.
• Help identify opportunities for joint initiatives and partnerships.
3. Advocacy and International Representation
• Represent GHFC in selected international meetings, discussions, and events.
• Contribute strategic perspectives to advocacy initiatives, policy discussions, and calls to action.
• Support dialogue on sustainable financing for infectious disease prevention, treatment, and health systems strengthening.
• Help raise the coalition's visibility and credibility within the global health community.
4. Knowledge Sharing and Coalition Engagement
• Share expertise and insights with coalition members and IDA colleagues.
• Contribute to selected webinars, roundtables, and strategic discussions.
• Provide input and guidance on policy briefs, concept notes, and coalition communications.
• Encourage knowledge exchange and learning across the coalition.
5. Collaboration with IDA
• Maintain regular strategic dialogue with IDA leadership.
• Work with IDA's policy, communications, and coordination colleagues to support coalition priorities.
• Provide guidance and direction while relying on shared organizational support for routine coordination and administrative activities.
Who We Are Looking For
We welcome expressions of interest from experienced professionals who bring:
• An advanced degree in public/global health, health economics, international development, public policy, or a related field.
• At least 5–7 years of relevant professional experience, including leadership or senior advisory responsibilities.
• Experience in global health financing, coalition building, international advocacy, or strategic partnerships.
• An established understanding of international health institutions, financing mechanisms, and policy discussions.
• Strong professional networks and the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
• Excellent English communication skills; French, Spanish, or other languages are an advantage.
• A collaborative, diplomatic, and proactive leadership approach.
• A genuine commitment to global health equity and sustainable financing.
Experience with organizations such as the Global Fund, Gavi, WHO, the World Bank, or international NGOs would be particularly valuable.
Above all, we are looking for someone who believes in the coalition's mission and is motivated to make a meaningful voluntary contribution.
Time Commitment and Voluntary Nature
This is an unpaid, remote volunteer leadership position.
We anticipate a contribution of approximately 15–20 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate other professional and personal commitments.
The scope of contribution and priorities will be agreed with IDA leadership, recognizing that the Director is offering their expertise and time voluntarily.
The role is focused on strategic leadership, relationship building, and advocacy rather than routine administrative delivery.
What You Can Gain from This Contribution
• Meaningful impact: Contribute to improving how global health priorities are financed.
• International leadership: Help guide an emerging global coalition and influence its strategic direction.
• Professional connections: Collaborate with senior global health professionals, policymakers, donors, and international organizations.

• Visibility and recognition: Be recognized for your voluntary leadership and contribution to GHFC's mission.
• Flexibility: Make a valuable contribution while maintaining your existing professional commitments.
