Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Global Medical Affairs Director, Prostate. This is an office-based position in Raritan, New Jersey.

Position summary

We are seeking a Global Medical Affairs Director for Prostate Cancer. This role will support the development and execution of global medical strategy for prostate cancer assets, with a primary emphasis on early development programs, emerging scientific narratives, evidence generation, and readiness for key data milestones. Working closely with the Senior Global Medical Affairs Lead, Regional Medical Affairs, Strategy and Execution, Scientific Communications, Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access, and other partners, the Medical Director will translate evolving science and stakeholder insights into clear, prioritized, and executable medical plans.

Key responsibilities

  • Support development, refinement, and execution of integrated global medical strategies and evidence-generation plans aligned with asset strategy, lifecycle stage, unmet need, and regional requirements.
  • Provide Medical Affairs input to early and late development planning, including shaping the clinical development plan and lifecycle management strategy, clinical relevance of early and late development studies, data gaps, endpoint considerations, patient and healthcare professional needs, and implications for access and medical adoption.
  • Partner with GMALs and cross-functional leaders on Compound Development Teams, working groups, Safety Management Teams, and Medical/Marketing/Market Access forums, as assigned, bringing a clear global and regional Medical Affairs perspective.
  • Lead defined asset, indication, or workstream deliverables end to end, establishing decision points, milestones, dependencies, risks, and clear ownership across contributors.
  • Develop and maintain scientifically rigorous, fair, balanced, and non-promotional core asset narratives, strategic Q&A, internal education, and data-readiness materials in partnership with Scientific Communications and other subject-matter experts.
  • Support publication strategy and execution, including identification of priority scientific questions, data dissemination opportunities, congress planning, author engagement, and timely delivery of manuscripts and presentations.
  • Generate and synthesize insights from scientific exchange, advisory boards, investigators, regions, field medical teams, literature, and the competitive landscape; translate insights into strategic recommendations and documented follow-through.
  • Plan and execute high-quality external scientific engagement, including advisory boards, expert consultations, congress interactions, and investigator engagement, in accordance with applicable policies and industry standards.
  • Partner with regions and countries to ensure strategies are globally relevant, locally actionable, and informed by differences in clinical practice, access, evidence needs, and stakeholder priorities.
  • Contribute to launch and medical-readiness activities where relevant, including evidence readiness, scientific communication, education, insight plans, risk mitigation, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Use fit-for-purpose digital and AI-enabled approaches to improve synthesis, planning, content development, and knowledge sharing, with appropriate human review and in accordance with company requirements.
  • Monitor budgets, vendors, timelines, and deliverable quality for assigned initiatives; proactively raise trade-offs and propose solutions when priorities or assumptions change.
  • Operate with a One Medical Voice mindset, ensuring alignment across global, regional, and cross-functional stakeholders while preserving scientific integrity and appropriate Medical Affairs independence.
  • Coach and enable colleagues through clear expectations, constructive challenge, knowledge sharing, and inclusive collaboration; may lead matrix teams, vendors, fellows, or project-based contributors.

Ways of working and leadership expectations

  • Strategic and scientific judgment: frame the right questions, distinguish signal from noise, and make clear recommendations under uncertainty.
  • Enterprise influence: build alignment without relying on formal authority; surface disagreements early and help teams resolve trade-offs in the interest of patients and the asset.
  • Execution excellence: convert strategy into a focused plan, protect critical priorities, simplify governance, and deliver high-quality work on time.
  • Communication and translation: make complex science understandable and decision-ready for different audiences without overstating the evidence.
  • External scientific leadership: engage credibly with experts and investigators, listen actively, and translate external perspectives into action.
  • Insight and evidence orientation: connect stakeholder insights, evidence gaps, publications, and medical activities to explicit strategic decisions and outcomes.
  • Adaptability and learning agility: remain effective as data, development plans, organizational needs, and asset priorities evolve.
  • Credo-based leadership: demonstrate integrity, accountability, inclusion, respect, transparency, and an uncompromising commitment to patient benefit and compliance.
