Ternary Energy is focused on developing a sustainable liquid energy source that can be stored, pumped, and shipped with ease. The organization aims to provide scalable, practical alternatives to traditional fuels while supporting global decarbonization efforts. By combining innovation in energy technology with robust logistics, Ternary Energy seeks to make clean energy accessible to diverse markets and industries. Team members contribute to solutions that balance environmental responsibility with real-world operational needs.

Role Description

This role is not for the faint of heart, as we set out on a mission to become the fastest scaling fuel cell manufacturer in history. If you think you've mastered fuel cell manufacturing and want to build it the right way then this role is your chance to shine on the global stage.

You will be designing and implementing the entire manufacturing strategy from the ground up, selecting the world's best partners and processes and adapting them to our specific needs.

The Global Production Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based ideally in Auckland but may be in the US or EU, with flexibility for some work from home.

The Global Production Manager will collaborate with supply chain, engineering, and commercial teams. The role also involves monitoring performance metrics, addressing operational risks, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and leading cross-functional projects to scale production capabilities internationally.

Qualifications

Proven experience in production or operations management in fuel cell manufacturing, preferably with multi-site or global responsibility.

Strong skills in production planning, process optimization, and capacity management, with the ability to balance safety, quality, and efficiency.

Demonstrated capability in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration, including working with engineering, supply chain, and commercial teams.

Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, and experience implementing compliance and risk-mitigation practices in production environments.

Ability to analyze data, interpret performance metrics, and use digital tools or systems (e.g., ERP, MES, or similar) to support decision-making.

Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills, with a commitment to inclusive and collaborative work practices.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field; advanced qualifications or certifications in production or project management are an advantage.

Experience working in or coordinating with international teams and comfort navigating different regulatory and cultural environments.
