Governance, Data and Assurance Lead
Day rate: £450 per day (inside IR25)
12-month contract
Hybrid/Wiltshire - 1 day per week in the office
Do you love turning complex data into clear, defensible insight? Are you the person colleagues turn to when a decision needs to stand up to scrutiny? This role puts your analytical and governance expertise at the heart of how to make decisions and deliver value for local communities.
The role
As Governance, Data and Assurance Lead, you will be the guardian of evidence-based decision-making. You will help shape a modern, resilient governance framework that keeps decisions transparent, objective and auditable.
You will:
- Collate, validate and analyse large datasets to identify trends, risks, opportunities and efficiencies.
- Build and maintain robust, auditable financial models, including whole-life costing, benchmarking, sensitivity and total cost of ownership analysis.
- Produce management reports, KPI dashboards and insight that support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Develop and continually improve data models and analytical tools that underpin governance, compliance and planning.
- Design and assure evaluation and scoring approaches, safeguarding consistency and preventing bias.
- Lead the delivery of accurate, timely data for statutory reporting, and track and report financial benefits with clear audit trails.
About you
You will bring a highly analytical, methodical approach to problem-solving, with excellent attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy. Strong Excel skills are essential, and you will be confident building models and presenting findings in a way that non-specialists can act on.
You will also have:
- Experience of governance, assurance, evaluation or compliance work.
- A clear understanding of governance structures and decision-making frameworks.
- A sound grasp of financial risk and the use of quantitative evidence to support fair, objective outcomes.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to offer constructive challenge at all levels.
- The ability to work under pressure while maintaining rigorous standards.
