About bp
bp operates at the heart of the global energy system, helping countries meet their energy needs and serving millions of customers every day. With world-class assets, technology, trading capability and partnerships, we deliver energy at scale today while investing with discipline in the energy transition.
Our business graduate programme
You want a big impact. We have a global stage. As part of our business graduate programme, you’ll enjoy variety, responsibility and exposure – and that’s just the start.
Why work in business at bp?
- Operate as part of a high-performing team.
- Learn how to solve complex business challenges.
- Take ownership of fast-moving projects.
- Influence decisions at the highest level.
As a business graduate, you’ll complete three rotations designed to give you breadth of experience across your chosen business area while also supporting you to build technical depth.
From managing joint ventures to overseeing entire retail territories – making sure bp operates efficiently is no easy task. And as part of our business function, you’ll be right at the heart of it, working with fresh technology, making key decisions and learning from experienced colleagues who know how to make big business work.
Join us and you’ll get the support of a structured technical pathway and our training programme, designed to help you grow both professionally and personally. In return, you'll bring your ideas, curiosity and ambition to real business challenges. Along the way, you'll be part of a supportive bp early careers community that will help you grow, succeed and make a meaningful impact from day one.
Role and responsibilities
As a Procurement graduate, you'll be part of bp's global Procurement organisation, helping bp buy the goods and services it needs safely, sustainably and competitively. You'll learn how procurement and supply chain management work in a large global business, bring your own skills to real work, and add value from day one.
Across three 12-month rotations, you'll be placed in roles that match business need and your development. Depending on the rotation, you could:
- Analyse spend and supply markets to shape sourcing strategies
- Run sourcing events, negotiate and award contracts
- Manage supplier performance, relationships and risk
- Work with business partners on projects, operations and supply chain activities
- Support the processes, data, digital tools and analytics that make Procurement work better
Your assignments will cover different parts of the procurement lifecycle, from initial market assessment through to contract award and ongoing supplier management. You'll build a strong foundation in analytical, communication and stakeholder skills, and gain exposure to a range of bp businesses and geographies.
Key competencies will include:
- Plan and prioritise your own workload, and adapt when priorities change
- Communicate clearly in writing and in presentations, and turn data into concise recommendations
- Apply an analytical, results-driven approach, with confidence in data and digital tools
- Build relationships and influence colleagues, business partners and suppliers
- Show curiosity, collaboration and accountability, with a commitment to safety and compliance
