Purpose of the Role

• As a Graduate Quality Engineer, you will work with the full support of an established Quality team, developing the skills to assure the quality of our products from new product introduction through to production and customer delivery.
• You will work on products and programmes across motorsport, automotive and transportation, supporting production and customer activities while working to established quality processes and standards.
• You will collaborate with Engineering, Production, Supply Chain and Project teams across the business, providing the opportunity to develop in a rich, high-technology manufacturing environment.
• The role offers exposure to the full breadth of quality engineering including incoming inspection, first article inspection, non-conformance management, root cause investigation, supplier quality and customer quality allowing development across all areas or a focus on a specific discipline.

Principal Accountabilities

• You will contribute to all aspects of the Quality team’s work, including:
• Supporting internal and external investigations of electronic and electro-mechanical products and components.
• Identification of failure modes from production, supplier and customer returns.
• Recording, managing and driving non-conformances (NCs) to closure, including participation in Material Review Boards.
• Supporting root cause and corrective/preventive action activities using 8D, 5 Why and Ishikawa methods.
• Preparing first article inspection (FAI), inspection and test documentation alongside the NPI team.
• Collecting and analysing quality metrics (e.g. scrap, yield, NC trends) using tools such as Pareto and SPC.

• You will support the preparation of customer and supplier reports, and assist with part approval documentation (e.g. PPAP / APQP) to ensure customer requirements are met for new or modified products and processes.
• You will support internal quality system audits and help host customer and supplier audits.
• You will work closely with all functions to drive continuous improvement and the company goal of zero defects, in accordance with ISO 9001 quality management systems and IPC Class 3 requirements.
• You will begin your engineering career working to best-practice processes, ensuring all activities are conducted in line with Motion Applied Safety, Quality and Environmental systems.
• This role suits a well-organised, motivated graduate who is excited about developing a career in quality engineering within a high-technology manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Engineering (Electronic, Electrical or Manufacturing), Physics or a similar technical field of study
• Good understanding of electronics and/or electronic manufacturing (PCBA, SMT) – desirable
• Awareness of quality tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, Pareto, SPC and FMEA – desirable
• Awareness of ISO 9001, IPC standards or automotive quality processes (APQP/PPAP)
• Good understanding of statistics, with strong numerical and verbal reasoning
• Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Ability to work both as part of a team and individually
• Enjoy collaborating with others, across disciplines, to solve problems quickly and pragmatically
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and great analytical skills
