About the job

  • Remote
  • Kenya-based
  • UK Working Hours
  • Full-Time | Graduate / Early-Career Opportunity
  • First-year On Target Earnings: KES 65,000+ per month
  • KES 45,000–50,000 monthly basic + uncapped commission
  • Opportunities across UK Education Recruitment, UCM Middle East and UCM Global
  • Structured training, progression and the opportunity to build and eventually own a recruitment desk

About The Role

UCM is hiring a Graduate Recruitment Consultant to join our growing international recruitment team, with opportunities across UCM Education UK, UCM Middle East and UCM Global.

This is an opportunity for a hungry, ambitious graduate or early-career professional who wants more than a standard entry-level role and is interested in building a genuine international recruitment career.

You will develop your recruitment skills across candidate sourcing, screening, relationship-building and pipeline management, contributing directly to successful placements and taking increasing ownership as you develop.

Depending on your strengths and the needs of the business, you may work primarily on candidate recruitment or within a role that also includes some structured client outreach, such as contacting target organisations and following up professionally. Previous business development experience is not required, as the structure, target markets and processes will be provided.

As you develop, you will take increasing ownership of your market — building your network, understanding where to find strong candidates and becoming increasingly responsible for driving recruitment activity and results.

UCM Education has operated in the UK education recruitment market for over 11 years, with an established candidate database, experienced consultants and a strong market network.

Previous recruitment experience is not required. We are much more interested in your intelligence, communication, ambition, resilience, coachability and evidence of achievement and ownership.

For someone with the right potential, this offers a clear route to greater responsibility, uncapped commission, increased earning potential and genuine ownership of a recruitment desk.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Sourcing suitable candidates through our existing database, job boards and other recruitment channels
  • Reviewing CVs and assessing candidate suitability
  • Conducting candidate screening and qualification calls
  • Speaking regularly with candidates and professionals across the markets you support
  • Building strong, professional candidate relationships
  • Keeping your candidate pipeline active through consistent follow-up
  • Proactively identifying strong candidates rather than relying only on applications
  • Progressing suitable candidates through the recruitment process
  • Updating the recruitment CRM accurately and consistently
  • Working towards recruitment activity, pipeline and placement targets
  • Developing your knowledge of your recruitment market and target sectors
  • Taking increasing ownership of your desk as your capability develops

What We Offer

  • A genuine entry point into an international recruitment career
  • Experience working within international recruitment markets, including UK education where relevant
  • Uncapped commission alongside your basic salary
  • First-year earning potential of KES 65,000+ per month
  • Structured recruitment training and ongoing coaching
  • The opportunity to build and eventually own the candidate side of a geographic recruitment desk
  • Clear progression based on performance, capability and contribution
  • Remote working with a supportive international team
  • Company-sponsored team socials and meetups
  • A culture that values ambition, ownership, communication and results

Who This Role Suits

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Is hungry, ambitious and genuinely wants to build a successful career
  • Communicates confidently and professionally
  • Enjoys speaking to people and is comfortable spending significant time on the phone
  • Learns quickly and responds well to coaching and feedback
  • Is resilient and able to stay motivated when things do not go to plan
  • Takes ownership rather than waiting to be told every next step
  • Prepares properly and takes opportunities seriously
  • Is organised, responsive and consistent with follow-up
  • Is motivated by targets, progression and earning potential
  • Can work independently in a remote environment while remaining accountable

What We're Looking For

We are primarily looking for strong graduates and early-career candidates with high potential.

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong spoken and written English
  • Professional and confident communication
  • Intelligence, curiosity and the ability to learn quickly
  • Good judgement and common sense
  • Drive, resilience and persistence
  • Coachability and the ability to apply feedback
  • Strong preparation, organisation and follow-through
  • Evidence of achievement, responsibility or ownership through university, employment, internships, leadership, extracurricular activities or personal projects
  • A genuine interest in building a long-term career in recruitment within an international business
  • Availability to work UK business hours

A university degree is strongly preferred.

Preferred Backgrounds

We welcome strong graduates from a wide range of disciplines, particularly:

  • Psychology
  • Business, Management or Entrepreneurship
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing
  • Communications
  • Education
  • Sociology or other Social Sciences
  • English, Languages or other communication-focused degrees

However, your degree subject is not the deciding factor. We are more interested in how well you communicate, what you have achieved, the responsibility you have taken and the potential you demonstrate. Previous experience in recruitment, sales, customer service, business development, HR or another people-facing environment can be an advantage, but it is not required.

This Role Is Not For You If

  • You are looking primarily for an administrative or back-office HR role
  • You are uncomfortable speaking to people regularly on the phone
  • You do not enjoy working towards targets
  • You struggle with rejection or lose motivation quickly
  • You need detailed instructions before taking every next step
  • You are applying mainly because the role is remote rather than because you are interested in recruitment
  • You are looking for a short-term job rather than a career you can develop
  • You are unable to work UK business hours

Why Join UCM

You will be joining UCM at an exciting stage of growth, with recruitment opportunities across UCM Education UK, UCM Middle East and UCM Global.

You will start by developing strong foundations in sourcing, candidate engagement, assessment, relationship-building and pipeline management. Depending on where your strengths fit best, your role may remain primarily recruitment-focused or include some structured client outreach alongside recruitment.

As your capability develops, you will take increasing responsibility for your market, pipeline and results, with strong performance leading to greater responsibility, higher earning potential and long-term progression.

How to Apply

Apply via LinkedIn Easy Apply and complete the application screening questions.

Please ensure your CV clearly outlines your education, employment history and any achievements, leadership experience, internships, projects or other responsibilities that demonstrate your potential.

We are not looking for a perfectly matched recruitment CV. We are looking for people who can demonstrate strong communication, achievement, ambition, resilience and the potential to become successful recruiters.
