Grants Analyst
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)
Schedule: Monday-Wednesday onsite, Thursday-Friday remote
Duration: 6-Month Contract
Pay: $30-$33/hour
About the Role
Our client, a leading nonprofit organization serving the community through social services, housing, and healthcare-related programs, is seeking a Grants Analyst to support the financial management of government and private grant funding. This position is ideal for an accounting or finance professional looking to expand their experience in grant accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and nonprofit finance.
The Grants Analyst will be responsible for grant reimbursement processing, budget monitoring, financial analysis, and ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly grant reimbursement claims and vouchers.
- Analyze expenses and ensure proper allocation across grants, programs, and funding sources.
- Prepare General Ledger journal entries and expense reallocations.
- Monitor program budgets and perform budget-to-actual variance analysis.
- Assist program leadership with budget management and budget modifications.
- Maintain grant billing schedules and track reimbursement payments.
- Process accounts receivable transactions, including revenues, advances, and adjustments.
- Prepare financial reports for management, auditors, and funding agencies.
- Support annual budgeting activities and year-end audits.
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address funding, budgeting, and reimbursement questions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Financial analysis experience, including expense review, budget analysis, and variance identification.
- Budgeting experience with budget-to-actual reporting.
- Strong General Ledger knowledge and journal entry experience.
- Advanced attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with Excel, including formulas and financial analysis functions.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
- Grant accounting experience.
- Experience with government grants and contracts (federal, state, or local funding).
- Nonprofit accounting experience.
- Experience preparing reimbursement claims and vouchers.
- Accounts receivable and revenue recognition experience.
- Financial reporting experience.
- Experience working with program managers, department leaders, or budget owners.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience within healthcare, human services, social services, or nonprofit organizations.
- Audit support experience.
- Knowledge of grant compliance and grantor reporting requirements.
- Familiarity with government-funded programs and reimbursement processes.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
