Job Description Summary
The Grid Strategy & Operations Leader is a critical strategic leadership role within the Grid & Electrical Subsystem team, accountable for defining and driving the commercial and programmatic direction of grid integration across the wind turbine portfolio. This leader oversees a team of Product and Program Managers and serves as the primary link between Engineering, Commercial teams, and external market stakeholders. The role owns the multi-generation technology roadmap for grid integration capabilities and leads the commercialization strategy for new technologies, ensuring the portfolio remains competitive and responsive to evolving global market requirements. In close partnership with the Engineering Leader for Grid Integration, this position establishes feature priorities and development sequencing, ensuring technology investments align with customer needs, regulatory requirements, market opportunities, and key project milestones.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead and develop a team of Product and Program Managers responsible for the NPI process, commercial milestones, and the roadmap for grid, power plant controls, and converter software.
- Define the global strategy for grid integration, synthesizing strategic trends from customers, grid operators, and market regulators to create a prioritized feature roadmap.
- Act as the primary interface between commercial teams and engineering, driving demand rationalization to prioritize conflicting feature requests based on regional market needs and technical feasibility.
- Serve as a lead advocate for GE’s technical capabilities to customers and regulators (30-50% external engagement), while simultaneously acting as the "voice of the customer" to internal engineering teams.
- Own the commercialization strategy and value proposition documentation, translating complex grid integration features into compelling sales support materials.
- Provide programmatic leadership, owning the scheduling, pacing, and execution of grid integration software and testing programs to ensure on-time delivery.
- Partner with the Engineering Leadership team to balance innovative development (e.g., grid-forming converters, hybrid storage) with the commercial requirements of specific turbine models and markets.
- Own the team's commitment to commercial milestones, ensuring that all grid integration activities are synchronized with the broader product release and customer delivery schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution, combined with 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
- 5 years experience in renewables grid integration, product management, or program management.
- 3 years leading engineering projects, technical teams, or functional engineering organizations.
- Advanced English proficiency required.
For US Based Candidates
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution, combined with 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
- 5 years experience in renewables grid integration, product management, or program management.
- 3 years leading engineering projects, technical teams, or functional engineering organizations.
For Brazil Based Candidates
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution, combined with extensive professional experience in the energy or industrial sector
- Demonstrated experience in renewables grid integration, product management, or program management, with a strong track record of delivering results in complex and dynamic environments.
- Proven leadership experience managing engineering projects, technical teams, or functional engineering organizations.
- Advanced English proficiency required.
Eligibility Requirements
- For US Based candidates the preferred work locations are Schenectady, NY or Greenville, SC, but highly qualified remote (US based) candidates will be considered.
Desired Characteristics
- Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s in Engineering) from an accredited university.
- Deep knowledge of electricity markets, regulatory environments, and power system requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and align commercial/technical teams around a common goal.
- Experience in a customer-facing role with a proven track record of managing high-stakes external relationships (utilities/grid operators).
- Prior experience in product ownership, particularly for software-based or complex technical products.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex quantitative data into concrete business actions.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to distill technical complexity into clear, high-level strategic messaging.
- Demonstrated ability to drive consensus and manage priorities in a complex, matrixed organizational environment.
