Role Description

Riley Risk is seeking motivated candidates for a 6-month paid internship as a Global Security Operations (GSOC) Analyst. You will monitor global physical security and geopolitical threats affecting client operations across five major regions, using Riley Risk’s modern virtual GSOC platform.

Interns support incident monitoring, reporting, and coordination with our Senior Security Advisory Team, while developing practical skills in operational security, analysis, and reporting. This is a daytime shift, with infrequent surge support instances required.

This internship includes structured training in security analysis, operational monitoring, and geopolitical risk reporting, with mentorship and career development throughout. Successful participants may advance to a full-time GSOC Analyst role at higher base pay pending performance.

What You Will Do:

• Monitor global incident feeds, media sources, and open source reporting for events affecting client personnel and operations
• Assess incidents for relevance, credibility, and impact against defined client thresholds
• Draft and issue clear, concise alerts and situation reports to defined standards
• Escalate to the Senior Security Advisory Team according to established protocols
• Coordinate and support ongoing Security Operations activities and advisors
• Maintain accurate incident logs and shift handover records
• Support periodic reporting and country risk products

Requirements:

• Good English (spoken and written)
• 24/7 access to high-speed internet
• A designated, quiet home workspace w/ no distractions
• A functional computer with up-to-date antivirus and standard security settings
• Strong interest in physical security, risk management, or global operations - willing to train and learn

Qualifications

• Proficiency in research, analytical thinking, and report writing
• Ability to monitor and assess global security threats and incidents
• Ability to monitor and assess security threats and incidents against defined criteria
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with tools and technologies relevant to security and risk management
• Organized and detail-oriented with experience in data analysis
• Adaptability to work in dynamic, high-pressure environments
• Prior exposure to security operations, humanitarian or development operations, or a related internship is an advantage but is not required

Compensation and Engagement

This internship is compensated at local professional market rates for the country where the intern is based, paid monthly in USD. The band is shared during the recruiting and screening process. This is a locally benchmarked role. Paid interns are onboarded to the Riley Risk global workforce platform and engaged as contracted staff. Applicants must be resident in their respective country and able to receive payment as an independent contractor.
