Reports to: Co-Founder & CMO

Fifteen nurseries. Four brands. One purpose: Empowering the Generations of Tomorrow. Now we need someone brilliant to tell our story.
About Us
At Family Adventures Group, we run nurseries across Somerset, the Midlands and South Wales under our Little Adventures and Green Giraffe brands, alongside our Ocean Adventures and Space Adventures family leisure venues. Every day, we help hundreds of families find high-quality childcare and give their children the best possible start in life.
We're values-led (Accountable, Reliable, Caring and Honest), founder-led and growing fast. We're also proud of what our people and families say about us:
• Sunday Times Best Places to Work (Large UK Company, 2025/26)
• Great Place to Work® Top 100 Large UK Company (2025/26)
• Top 20 UK Large Nursery Group (2025/26)
• UK Top 100 Best Workplace for Women, for Development and in Education (2025/26)
The Role
This is a new role and the first of its kind in our Group. You'll own how we look, sound and feel to everyone who matters to us: the families choosing a nursery, the practitioners deciding where to build their career, our own teams, and the communities we're part of.
You won't be starting from scratch. We have a genuinely great story, award-winning culture and real momentum. What we need now is one person to own that story across every brand, channel and setting, and to tell it consistently, confidently and everywhere.
The story that makes a parent choose us is the same one that makes a brilliant early year’s practitioner want to work here. That's why this role brings brand strategy, PR and media relations, internal communications and employer branding together.
You'll shape the strategy with our CMO and then lead it yourself. It's senior and hands-on, especially in year one. You'll work with our Digital Marketing Executive and Customer Success team, with budget for agency and freelance support, and scope to build the function as it grows.
What You'll Own
Brand guardianship
• Brand identity, tone of voice and guidelines across all our brands, with final sign-off on anything that carries our name
• Our physical brand across signage, nursery environments, uniforms, vehicles and print
• Toolkits, templates and training so every setting gets it right first time
Digital, social and content
• Our digital presence across websites, social media, Google Business Profiles and review platforms
• Social media standards across Group and setting accounts, including photo consent and safeguarding
• LinkedIn strategy for the company and our leadership team, including founders’ stories
• A content strategy and campaigns that generate high-quality leads that convert in our process
PR and communications
• Proactive public relations across local, regional and trade press, from inspection successes to community stories
• Reputation management and crisis communications, alongside the leadership team
• A clear messaging framework (what we say, to whom, in what tone and when) and a joined-up comms calendar
• Being a trusted adviser to our founders and senior leaders on important or sensitive messages
Employer brand and internal comms
• Working with People & Culture to tell our employer story and help us attract and keep great people
• Internal communications that reach every setting, celebrate wins and land key updates clearly
• Our awards strategy, from entries to deadlines
You'll own the brand and communications plan and budget, and show clearly how brand activity drives enquiries, occupancy and hires.
About You
You're a brand builder and a storyteller who's equally at home writing a press release, briefing a designer, or helping a nursery manager get a social post right. You have a radar for a good story, high standards, and the confidence to say "that's not on brand" in the nicest possible way.
You'll bring:
• Previous experience in senior brand, marketing or corporate communications roles (for example Head of Communications, Brand Manager, Head of Brand or Communications Manager)
• Outstanding writing and communication skills, with the ability to move easily between parents, practitioners, press and the board
• Hands-on PR experience, including staying calm when handling difficult situations
• A strong creative eye and real attention to detail
• Evidence that your work has delivered results, whether hires, enquiries, reputation or engagement
• The drive to set direction and deliver it in a growing, founder-led business
It would be great if you also have:
• Experience in a multi-site, people-focused sector such as education, care, leisure or hospitality
• Employer brand, recruitment marketing or internal comms experience with frontline teams
• Experience building an in-house brand or comms function
• Confidence using AI tools to speed up content and creative work, without losing authenticity
If you're strong on most of this, we'd love to hear from you.
