We are looking for someone to join us at our headquarters in Aarau as Head of Capacity & Congestion Management (80-100%) Help keep Switzerland's lights on You ensure that the capacity of Switzerland’s high-voltage grid is used optimally, both within Switzerland and as part of the interconnected European grid. As a driving force behind capacity and congestion management, you develop solutions that intelligently connect the market and the grid while balancing technical and economic requirements. Your key responsibilities include: Leadership and development of the Capacity & Congestion Management team while ensuring the sustainable development of the organisation, processes and capabilities Anticipation of regulatory, market and operational changes and derivation of future-ready solutions for market, operational and cross-border planning Ensuring efficient and robust processes through an end-to-end understanding of capacity and congestion management across the entire organisation, continuous performance monitoring, and ongoing improvement Active contribution to national and European collaboration and representation of Swissgrid’s interests in dealings with authorities, transmission system operators and market partners Effective leadership of people and resources through employee development, the creation of a culture based on trust and performance, and the efficient management of budgets, performance and risks. You communicate complex matters clearly, proactively initiate change and create a motivating working environment. You also bring the following qualifications and experience: Master’s degree in electrical engineering, economics or a natural science discipline, ideally complemented by further education in economics Six to ten years of relevant professional experience, particularly in electricity trading, power plant dispatch or grid operations In-depth knowledge of national and international energy markets as well as the relevant regulatory and legal frameworks Advanced knowledge of congestion and balancing group management as well as operational planning, together with a very good understanding of the interaction between market and grid operations Experience leading an organisational unit or completed further training in people management Experience negotiating with international partners and authorities, along with strong conflict resolution and facilitation skills Business-fluent German and English, as well as advanced French language skills What we offer We offer varied and exciting responsibilities in a company that is unique in Switzerland, together with a modern working environment in the immediate vicinity of Aarau railway station.
