Job Description
Join Takeda as Head of Corporate Accounts reporting to the VP, Head of Payer Accounts. As a Senior Director of Corporate Accounts, you will be responsible for developing an integrated account strategy, ensuring patients have appropriate access to the entire portfolio of Takeda products within the US Business Unit. You will be responsible for implementing and being an integral part in the development of Takeda’s market access product strategy working with cross-functional leadership from internal and external stakeholders. Work cross-functionally to help develop go-to-market pipeline product pricing and market access strategies. You will be responsible for providing customer insights and leveraging environmental shifts to strategically provide inputs that directly shape Takeda’s financial planning process for in-line and pipeline products. You will address the needs of decision-makers at UHC/Optum/Emisar; lead a complex cross-functional team to ensure appropriate input from other Takeda teams (e.g., medical, marketing, contracts & pricing, legal, etc.), and work with the regional account team to ensure sales pull-through. Ensure C-Suite executives from Takeda and payer accounts are being connected.
How you will contribute:
- Establish and maintain, high-level C-Suite/B2B customer relationships
- Support strategic plans with defined tactics and objectives to move payer decisions in a direction that continues to open access for the appropriate patients
- Gaining C-Suite payer insights on pipeline products to help shape the pricing and reimbursement strategy
- Navigate partner organizations to ensure that Takeda is building relationships with all key stakeholders, including creating opportunities for other Takeda functions to proactively engage account counterparts, including medical, HEOR, etc.
- Assess competitive market landscape and opportunities for improved or expanded market penetration and adoption
- Lead a cross-functional team to deliver account goals
- Collaborate with Senior Takeda leadership, contracting, analytics, and medical partners to deliver account goals
- Collaborate across all relevant business units within the organization to establish contracting strategies and plans aligned with the managed care access goals of the overall corporate strategy
- Work with Takeda’s Government Affairs team to understand changes to policy and develop appropriate strategies for their accounts
- Collaborate with Takeda Business Unit/Franchise Heads to educate on access and coverage for Takeda products in addition to helping resolve unique reimbursement challenges that may arise
- Develop programs for the account, and contract for patient access
- Identify and monitor new or evolving market dynamics and impact to customer systems and provide input internally for prioritizing coverage for optimal access. Ensure Takeda formulary positioning and meet overall access objectives
- Develop and continuously improve innovative strategic programs and contracts, including value-based and partnership agreements to meet the account and Takeda’s needs
- Negotiate and optimize contracts to meet formulary access, revenue and GTN objectives
- Support sales pull-through
- Review data (sales, trends, comparison etc.) to identify pull-through opportunities
- Develop (and align) business cases (including tactics, budgets, KPIs) for investment based on clear pull-through assumptions
- Work with regional account managers and sales to execute pull-through plans and adjust strategy as needed
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- Preferred--10+ years in managed care and/or pharmaceutical industry
- Preferred--minimum of 3 years’ experience calling on payer/PBM accounts and designing/negotiating multi-product, large contractual arrangements
- Strategic account management skillset with extensive experience in strategic tactical planning, execution and negotiation skills with proven track record of success
- Detailed knowledge of payor/PBM economics: understanding key issues and how these shift given changing US healthcare landscape
- In-depth pharma knowledge: including prescribing, regulations, supply chain, managed care, sales and legal
- Consultative selling: ability to identify emerging stakeholder needs and to problem-solve innovative ways (programs, contracts etc.) for Takeda to help meet those needs
- Clear understanding of analytics: ability to develop strategies from analytical insights to drive account performance and ability to “ask the right questions” of analytical resources
- Business planning: develop a robust and challenging business plan for multiple accounts and align Takeda stakeholders against delivery
- Ability to skillfully communicate and negotiate successful agreements despite challenging situations with both internal and external customers, while working within an ever-changing managed markets, payer, and corporate environment
- Possess strong leadership, business acumen and ability to manage multiple priorities, processes, timelines and expectations of multiple stakeholder groups. Inspire and lead innovation and synergies across teams to maximize team productivity and outcomes in support of overall portfolio
- Strong work ethic and the ability to foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and operational excellence. Demonstrable ‘passion’ for ensuring effective communications with all internal and external stakeholders leading to highly productive, collaborative and efficient relationships.
- Travel Requirement- 25-50% Travel, with some international travel

$212,000.00 - $333,190.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
