Working closely with Digital, Data & Technology and Service Design & Service Engagement, the role will help turn multiple sources of information into meaningful, connected insight that supports better decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Impact and Insight team, developing a small specialist team while building evidence and insight capability across the wider charity.
- Develop and lead Hearing Dogs' approach to impact, insight and evaluation, ensuring we can robustly demonstrate the difference we make in the lives of people with hearing loss and understand where we can improve.
- Lead the development, roll-out and ongoing use of the Results Measurement Framework, establishing meaningful outcome measures and ensuring impact evidence is embedded in organisational decision-making.
- Deliver near-term results measurement for priority services while the framework is in development, including Helpful Hours, Community Drop-Ins and hearing dog partnerships.
- Work across the organisation to identify what we need to know, translating strategic priorities, organisational challenges and emerging questions into clear evidence, insight and data requirements.
- Analyse and connect internal data, impact evidence, research and external evidence to identify patterns, trends, risks, opportunities and areas requiring further investigation.
- Work closely with Digital, Data and Technology colleagues to define organisational information requirements and ensure the right data foundations, dashboards, reporting products and analytical tools are developed. Impact and Insight defines what we need to understand and how measures should be interpreted; Digital, Data and Technology provides the technical infrastructure and solutions.
- Lead and assure strategically important research and evaluation, ensuring appropriate methodology, ethical practice, proportionate approaches and robust analysis.
- Provide cross-organisational oversight of surveys, focus groups and interviews undertaken for research or evaluation purposes, including advice on data collection approaches, ethics and information governance.
- Translate complex evidence and analysis into clear, compelling and actionable insight, tailored to audiences including the Executive Leadership Team, Trustees, service teams, Income Generation and Marketing and Communications.
- Work closely with Service Design and Service Engagement, providing evidence and insight that enables user needs to be explored further and translated into propositions, pilots and service improvements.
- Collaborate with Income Generation and Marketing and Communications to provide robust evidence, impact data and insight that strengthens cases for support, impact reporting and external communications.
- Identify responsible opportunities to use AI and emerging analytical approaches to analyse and synthesise qualitative and quantitative information more effectively.
- Maintain an outward-looking perspective on emerging evidence, sector developments and changing needs relevant to people with hearing loss, and develop relationships with academic institutions, sector partners and other sources of external expertise.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Substantial experience of impact and outcomes measurement, monitoring and evaluation, with the ability to develop robust, proportionate and meaningful approaches.
- Strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, and the ability to assure the quality, ethics and robustness of research and evaluation.
- Highly comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data, identifying meaningful measures and working with technical specialists to develop dashboards and analytical products. You do not need to be a data engineer or developer.
- Able to connect different sources of evidence, identify patterns and understand what findings mean within a wider organisational and strategic context.
- Exceptional ability to turn complex information into clear, accessible and compelling insight for different audiences, including non-specialists.
- Credible with senior leaders, able to challenge constructively, ask strong questions and influence decision-making without owning the resulting operational decisions.
- Experience of leading and developing a small specialist team, and of building capability in colleagues beyond your own team.
- Able to operate effectively across organisational boundaries, particularly with technology, design, engagement and operational colleagues.
- Curious and outward-looking, able to identify relevant changes in evidence, technology and the hearing loss landscape and consider their implications for the organisation.
- An interest in applying AI and emerging analytical technologies to research, evidence synthesis and insight generation, with an understanding of responsible and ethical use.
