Lead the marketing strategy behind Chargrill Charlie's growth, brand and customer experience.

  • Flexible, hybrid working; standard across all our Support Centre roles.
  • The chicken came first and so do you! We're humans not numbers!
  • Partner with the CEO and senior leaders to drive Chargrill Charlie's strategy!

About Us

Chargrill Charlie’s is your family’s favourite chicken shop, first opening its doors in Coogee in 1989. Since then we’ve only kept on growing, bringing our homestyle cooking and signature flavours to our customers.

It’s not every day that a chicken shop develops a genuine cult following. It’s not just the chicken salt and homemade favourites that keep people coming back.

Chargrill Charlie’s has a unique flavour and personality that’s all our own… and that’s where you come in.

About the Role

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Marketing leads the marketing strategy for Chargrill Charlie’s, with responsibility for driving brand growth, customer engagement and commercial performance.

As a key member of the Chargrill Charlie’s Leadership Team, you’ll partner closely with the CEO, Head of Operations, Business Consultants, Franchise Partners and shared service teams.

You’ll lead a small marketing team and oversee brand strategy, customer acquisition, menu and promotional activity, local area marketing, communications and marketing investment. This is a strategic and hands-on role, using customer and commercial insight to influence decisions and translate strategy into outcomes across the restaurant network.

Key Activities Include:

Leadership, Brand & Growth Strategy

  • Lead the marketing strategy for Chargrill Charlie’s, translating brand, customer and commercial priorities into plans that drive customer acquisition, transactions, profitability and long-term brand equity.
  • Own the annual marketing, promotional and retail calendar, identifying growth opportunities across restaurant, catering, delivery, loyalty and digital channels while monitoring market and competitor activity.
  • Lead and develop the Marketing team and contribute to the Chargrill Charlie’s Leadership Team, bringing marketing and customer expertise to business decisions and constructively challenging priorities where required.

Customer, Menu & Brand Experience

  • Own customer strategy and brand positioning, using customer insights, sales performance and market trends to strengthen the customer proposition and guide marketing and business decisions.
  • Lead menu marketing, promotional planning and product launches with Operations and Supply Chain, supporting menu innovation and optimisation while ensuring initiatives can be effectively executed across restaurants.
  • Lead loyalty, customer engagement, communications, partnerships and community-building initiatives, ensuring consistent brand positioning across customer touchpoints and protecting the reputation and equity of Chargrill Charlie’s.

Franchise Partner & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Build trusted relationships with Franchise Partners and the Franchise Advisory Council, creating understanding and alignment around marketing strategy, investment decisions, promotions and initiatives that support restaurant performance.
  • Partner closely with the CEO, Head of Operations, Business Consultants and shared service teams including Digital, IT, Finance, Supply Chain and Studio to deliver integrated business outcomes.
  • Support Franchise Partners with local area marketing and restaurant growth, navigating differing perspectives and balancing local needs with customer, operational, commercial and broader brand objectives.

Marketing Performance & Commercial Delivery

  • Oversee marketing investment, budgets, campaign performance and prioritisation of resources, using commercial and customer insights to maximise impact and return on investment.
  • Lead relationships with external agencies, media, research, production and supplier partners, ensuring work is aligned to brand strategy, commercial objectives and budget expectations.
  • Evaluate campaign, menu and promotional performance and use results to continually improve marketing activity, customer experience and restaurant-level commercial outcomes.

About You

  • Proven senior marketing leadership experience within hospitality, QSR, retail or another consumer-facing brand.
  • Track record of developing and executing marketing strategies that drive commercial growth and strengthen brand performance.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate customer, market and business insights into decisions and measurable outcomes.
  • Proven ability to influence Franchise Partners, operational stakeholders, agencies and senior leaders, including navigating differing viewpoints.
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience balancing strategic direction with hands-on execution in an agile environment.

Desirable

  • Experience within a franchise or multi-site hospitality, food retail or service environment.
  • Experience with menu innovation, promotional planning and retail marketing calendars.
