About Matis Matis is redefining access to blue-chip contemporary art investment, enabling accredited investors to collectively acquire museum-quality artworks. We focus on iconic 20th-century artists such as Andy Warhol, Yves Klein, and Yayoi Kusama, with transaction sizes ranging from approximately $550,000 to $5.5 million (€500,000 to €5 million)—assets actively sought after by museums, international collectors, and leading galleries. Since launching in May 2023, Matis has completed more than 90 deals and is entering an accelerated growth phase in 2026. Our distribution model combines direct engagement with HNW and UHNW investors and institutional-grade partnerships with private banks, wealth managers, family offices, RIAs, broker-dealers, and digital wealth platforms. This multi-channel approach enables the scalable placement of alternative investments with sophisticated investors. Our investment offering has been Club Deal-driven to date; we will be transitioning toward a fund structure in Q4 2026. This shift will enable broader investment allocation for our investors, larger ticket sizes, and significantly expanded artwork acquisition power. The Role Matis will launch in the U.S. in September 2026, and we are seeking a Country Head, Matis US to lead the development of our alternative investment platform in the American market. Reporting to the CEO and based in New York, you will own the U.S. commercial strategy and execution—overseeing sales, partnerships, and team build-out—to establish Matis as a leading art investment platform in the country. 10+ years of successful B2B and B2C sales experience in alternative asset classes (hedge funds, private equity, private credit, real estate, structured products, or similar). Proven track record in building and managing relationships with HNW/UHNW clients, family offices, private banks, RIAs, and broker-dealers. Deep, active network in U.S. wealth management, private banking, and family office communities. Strong business development skills: ability to lead complex negotiations, close partnerships, and nurture long-term relationships. Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate autonomously, take ownership of U.S. market development, and own the related P&L. Genuine interest in post-war to contemporary art and knowledge of the art market (or demonstrated ability to develop such expertise rapidly). Comfort with digital tools, CRM platforms, and modern sales tech stacks. Willingness to travel frequently across the U.S. and periodically to Paris headquarters (approximately 1–2 trips per month initially). Organizational excellence and adaptability in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Series 7 and Series 63 (or 65/66) licenses preferred, or willingness to obtain. Active FINRA registration is a strong plus. Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. Develop and execute a comprehensive U.S. expansion strategy, including market analysis, target prioritization, and growth milestones. Own U.S. commercial performance, including revenue targets, pipeline development, and sales forecasting against P&L objectives. Drive sales execution across identified distribution channels (RIAs, broker-dealers, wirehouses, private banks, family offices, and digital wealth platforms). Lead prospecting and relationship management with financial intermediaries, converting qualified leads into long-term partnerships and investment commitments. Design and oversee marketing initiatives adapted to U.S. market dynamics, in close collaboration with Matis’s central marketing team. Ensure an exceptional client experience across the full investment lifecycle: onboarding, transaction execution, portfolio follow-up, exits, and reinvestment opportunities. Uphold Matis’s investment discipline and brand positioning by ensuring high-quality investor selection and accredited-investor compliance (Reg D / Rule 506). Once initial traction is established, recruit and manage a U.S. team (sales and marketing), fostering a high-performance, entrepreneurial culture. Represent Matis at industry events, media engagements, and high-level client meetings. Ensure all U.S. activities comply with applicable SEC, FINRA, and state regulatory frameworks, in coordination with central legal and compliance resources and U.S. external counsel. Act as the voice of the U.S. market internally, providing feedback on investor appetite, deal structuring, and sales processes to continuously improve Matis’s fund model. What We Offer Compensation: Base salary of $275,000–$325,000 (commensurate with experience), plus a performance-based bonus targeted at 50–100% of base, tied to U.S. fundraising and platform development milestones. Equity / carry participation: Meaningful equity in Matis aligning long-term incentives with the success of the platform. Health & wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents. Retirement: 401(k) plan with company match. Time off: Generous PTO policy, paid holidays, and paid parental leave. Flexibility: Hybrid working arrangement with remote-work options. Development: Annual professional development budget and access to leading industry conferences (Art Basel, Frieze, TEFAF, and major wealth management events). Culture: Collaborative, human-scale work environment with a highly ambitious, innovative team and direct support from experienced central teams (marketing, legal, operations).
