ABOUT THE POSITION

The Coding Track Product Head will build Virtuos’ coding agents and shape the future developer journey across our studios, bringing together in-house agents and third-party tools to improve how game engineers work.

Reporting to the Chief AI Officer (CAIO), you will own the track’s product direction, priorities and outcomes, and manage a team of developers and a Project Manager. You will work closely with studio engineering teams to turn their needs into useful products and measurable improvements in code quality and developer productivity.

  • Product direction and user needs
    • Own the vision, roadmap and backlog for Coding agents with clear priorities and acceptance criteria.
    • Work directly with studio developers and technical leaders to understand their workflows, identify unmet needs and test ideas using real development tasks.
    • Prioritise work by user value, expected benefit, feasibility and dependencies. Use feedback and evidence to decide what to build, improve or stop.
  • The developer journey
    • Curate a coherent developer experience across codebase onboarding, implementation, review, testing and maintenance, combining Virtuos agents with third-party tools.
    • Evaluate when to build, integrate or adopt tools. Track developments in AI models and coding agents, and test which advances are useful for Virtuos.
    • Work with studio and platform teams on integrations, onboarding and training, respecting client IP, security requirements and approved tool policies.
  • Delivery and product quality
    • Lead agents from discovery and prototypes through studio pilots and production use. Work with the Project Manager on delivery plans, dependencies and risks.
    • Assess outputs against representative codebases and agreed quality standards, including correctness, maintainability and the need for human review.
    • Measure adoption, developer satisfaction and engineering outcomes such as code quality and time spent on real tasks. Use the results to improve the roadmap.
  • Team leadership and communication
    • Manage and coach developers and the Project Manager, setting clear objectives, supporting their development and maintaining accountability for results.
    • Build alignment across studios and AI teams, resolve competing priorities, and communicate progress, risks and decisions clearly to the CAIO and stakeholders.
  • Substantial hands-on experience in game development engineering, with a strong understanding of production codebases, development pipelines and the challenges facing game engineers.

  • A strong interest in AI and practical experience using it in code development, with concrete examples of how you have improved a workflow and assessed the quality of its outputs.

  • A strong understanding of AI technologies relevant to coding, including large language models, agent workflows, retrieval and evaluation. You stay current with new capabilities and limitations through hands-on experimentation.

  • User-centred product judgement: the ability to uncover underlying needs, validate ideas with developers and turn feedback into clear product requirements.

  • A focus on value: the ability to prioritise competing opportunities, make trade-offs and measure whether a product is improving users’ work.

  • Experience leading technical teams, developing people and delivering software or tools used by others. You can work credibly with engineers on technical choices.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts, build trust and align stakeholders across studios and locations.

  • Ownership and follow-through from problem discovery to adoption. Product management experience is valuable; engineering leaders with demonstrated product judgement are also encouraged to apply.
