Head of Recruiting

Head of Recruiting | Remote from South Africa | EST hours

We're hiring a Head of Recruiting for a profitable US talent marketplace that places fractional executives - CMOs, CFOs, CTOs and more - into part-time roles at tech startups and SMBs.

The network is 50,000 leaders deep and growing by about 3,000 a month. The founder has run recruiting himself since day one. There are more clients than he can personally serve now, so this role takes the end-to-end matchmaking process off him and runs it better.

What you'd own:

• Scoping new roles, building the search strategy, and calibrating with the founder
• Overseeing shortlisting from the existing candidate network
• 5 to 10 live roles at a time
• Managing a small team of screeners and sourcers
• Screening and sourcing yourself where it's needed
• Candidate communications, and co-ownership of client relationships
• The metrics: placement rate, time to hire, and more

How the team works:

Remote, async, autonomous. Very few internal meetings. You will not run screening calls with candidates and you will not run client calls. The work is written judgement and throughput, not a calendar full of interviews. That suits some recruiters enormously and would frustrate others - worth being honest with yourself about which one you are.

You need all of the following:

• 10+ years recruiting experience
• Extensive hands-on screening and sourcing, done by you
• Recruited for US-based tech startups, hiring US-based talent
• Managed recruiting teams of screeners and sourcers
• Managed client relationships, in-house at a recruiting or staffing firm or through your own consultancy
• Recruited broadly across roles typical in startups and SMBs, not just engineering or just marketing
• Already using current AI tools in your daily work
• Based in South Africa and able to work EST hours

• Owned matchmaking or shortlisting for another talent marketplace
• Run your own recruiting consultancy with real clients
