About the Role
Build and lead the in-house talent function at a venture-backed fintech startup as the company scales from approximately 50 to 250 employees. This player-coach role combines hands-on recruiting with talent strategy and executive partnership.
What You'll Do
Build the sourcing and full-cycle recruiting function, and hire and lead a team of 3 to 6 recruiters alongside the existing team.
Personally source and close technical candidates, especially engineers, while recruiting for go-to-market, product, design, and operations roles.
Partner with executives on headcount plans, hiring budgets, compensation, and leveling frameworks.
Track pipeline health, conversion, and time-to-fill, and report recruiting insights to leadership.
Establish structured interviews, calibrated scorecards, and an efficient hiring process.
Own the handoff from hiring to onboarding, hire an HR generalist, and lay the groundwork for future HR leadership.
What We're Looking For
At least 8 years of talent leadership experience, including building and scaling an in-house talent function at a high-growth, venture-backed startup.
A record of at least doubling company headcount and building a talent function from an early stage.
Hands-on experience sourcing and closing engineering candidates, as well as recruiting for non-technical roles.
Experience with headcount planning, recruiting analytics, pipeline conversion, compensation, and board reporting.
Experience using ATS and Rippling.
Must be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary range: $185,000 to $225,000. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Hybrid role based in California, United States.
