About the Role
A high-growth fintech lending company is seeking a Head of Talent to build and lead its in-house talent function as the organization scales. This hands-on player-coach role will shape hiring strategy while personally sourcing and closing candidates, especially for technical positions.
What You'll Do
Build an in-house sourcing and full-cycle recruiting function, and hire and lead a team of 3 to 6 recruiters alongside existing team members.
Personally source and close engineering candidates while recruiting for go-to-market, product, design, and operations roles.
Partner with executives on headcount plans, hiring budgets, compensation frameworks, and leveling.
Use recruiting analytics to report on pipeline health, conversion, and time to fill, including reporting to founders or the board.
Establish structured interviews, calibrated scorecards, and an efficient hiring process that maintains a high bar as the company grows.
Own the handoff from hiring to onboarding, hire an HR generalist, and lay the groundwork for future HR leadership.
What We're Looking For
At least 8 years of talent leadership experience, including owning headcount planning, compensation, and recruiting analytics while continuing to recruit hands-on.
Experience building an in-house talent function at a high-growth, venture-backed startup and substantially scaling company headcount, such as from 30 to 90 or more.
Strong hands-on technical recruiting experience, including sourcing and closing engineering candidates, as well as recruiting for non-technical roles.
Experience hiring and leading recruiters, and creating structured interview and candidate evaluation processes.
Familiarity with applicant tracking systems and HR platforms such as Rippling.
Must be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary is $185,000 to $225,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Hybrid role based in California, United States.
