Opportunity Our mission as DeVry University faculty members is to facilitate dynamic learning environments that foster intellectual curiosity, academic integrity, and critical thinking skills, preparing our students to become lifelong learners and leaders in their chosen career fields and communities. Our faculty are role models for our University TEACH values and foster a culture of CARE consistent with our university mission, vision, and purpose. The College of Health Sciences seeks an Associate Professor to serve as the designated subject matter expert (SME) for the Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program. This is a builder’s role. The successful candidate owns curriculum design and revision across the MHA course sequence, serves as faculty lead for accreditation and assessment activity, teaches graduate courses in the discipline, and partners with the Assistant Dean on co-curricular programming and special projects. We are seeking a self-directed academic professional who carries multiple concurrent projects without prompting, delivers on or ahead of deadline, and treats accreditation-quality documentation as routine practice rather than a periodic scramble. Responsibilities: · Subject Matter Expertise and Program Stewardship Serve as the designated subject matter expert for the MHA program and its graduate course sequence, spanning health systems and interoperability, healthcare law and ethics, compliance and policy, revenue cycle management, human resources and physician management, healthcare analytics and AI-enabled decision intelligence, digital and telehealth innovation, healthcare leadership, managed care and community health, quality improvement, strategic planning and risk management, supply chain and logistics, long-term care administration, social determinants of health, and the capstone. Maintain currency of program content against evolving healthcare practice, regulatory change, payer environment shifts, and emerging technology, including artificial intelligence applications in healthcare administration. Serve as the primary faculty resource for content questions escalated by visiting professors, students, and academic leadership. Review and validate program outcomes, course learning outcomes, and competency mapping for disciplinary accuracy and graduate-level rigor. · Curriculum Development and Course Design Lead ground-up development of new graduate courses — from course description and learning outcome authoring through assessment design, weekly content build, rubric construction, and publication in Canvas. Lead the revision and enhancement of existing MHA courses on a defined refresh cycle, ensuring alignment with program outcomes, the program competency framework, and industry standards. Design authentic, executive-level assessments — case analyses, strategic plans, data-driven decision briefs, and capstone deliverables — that require synthesis rather than recall. Develop and maintain program scaffolding documentation, including plan of study sequencing, program outcome to course learning outcome maps, and competency crosswalks. Partner with instructional designers, media, and library colleagues to deliver course builds on schedule and within assigned development windows. Address and resolve curriculum-related issues submitted as tickets through Canvas with prompt turnaround. Develop graduate certificate and elective offerings that extend the MHA portfolio. Accreditation, Assessment, and Continuous Improvement Serve as faculty lead for CAHME accreditation activity, including self-study narrative authoring, evidence collection, criterion-by-criterion documentation, and site visit preparation. Maintain and refine the MHA competency framework and its alignment to CAHME competency buckets and the Be-Know-Do model. Build and sustain assessment infrastructure — signature assignments, rubrics, data collection points, and closing-the-loop documentation — that produces defensible evidence on demand. Analyze assessment results and lead evidence-based curricular improvements. Support institutional and programmatic accreditation reporting, including state regulatory and program approval documentation. Teaching and Academic Support Demonstrate excellence in the delivery of graduate courses within Canvas, teaching one to two courses per session (approximately five to ten courses per fiscal year). Advise and mentor graduate students to support their academic and professional growth, including capstone and thesis milestone supervision. Support and advise visiting professors on curriculum-related matters, course expectations, and grading calibration. Contribute to university service through active participation in curriculum committees and other college initiatives. Co-Curricular Programming and Special Projects Partner with the Assistant Dean to design and run co-curricular programming for MHA students, including guest speaker series, professional association engagement, student case competitions, networking events, and career-readiness activity. Support student organizations and honor society activity related to healthcare administration. Build and maintain relationships with healthcare organizations, professional associations, and community partners to support experiential learning and practicum opportunities. Assume special projects and initiatives assigned by the Assistant Dean, carrying them from scoping through delivery with limited oversight. Project Management and Operational Excellence Manage multiple concurrent curriculum, accreditation, teaching, and co-curricular projects without loss of quality or timeline. Meet or beat every committed deadline, and surface risk early rather than reporting slippage after the fact. Work proactively — identify gaps, propose solutions, and initiate work without waiting for direction. Maintain organized, retrievable documentation and version control for all curricular and accreditation artifacts. Communicate project status clearly and consistently to the Assistant Dean and college leadership. Professional Development Engage in professional development activities, including staying current in the field and participating in relevant scholarly activities. Maintain active membership and engagement in healthcare administration professional organizations. Contribute to college and curriculum-related activities and initiatives focused on faculty professional development. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to effectively manage curriculum development, accreditation support, teaching, and co-curricular responsibilities concurrently. Below are the minimum requirements of the education, experience, knowledge, and skills required to competently perform in this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Required Qualifications: Doctorate degree in the field being taught or doctorate degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in healthcare administration. Doctorate in healthcare administration (DHA, PhD) preferred. Three to five years of healthcare industry experience appropriate to the graduate course subject matter, including exposure to areas such as revenue cycle management, managed care, health system operations, or healthcare leadership. At least two years of proven accomplishment in curriculum development, including designing and building courses from the ground up rather than solely revising existing content. Working familiarity with CAHME accreditation standards, criteria, and competency expectations for graduate healthcare management programs. At least two years of demonstrated excellence in graduate-level teaching and a record of research, publication, or applied scholarship. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and consistently deliver work on or ahead of deadline, with minimal supervision. Availability and willingness to teach one to two courses per session, approximately five to ten courses per fiscal year. Experience teaching web-based courses, building and managing academic programs, participating in university committees, participating in local and national professional organizations, and past successful professional experiences with team members from diverse backgrounds. Degrees from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent. Qualifying credentials must be awarded by an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, or by an international institution determined to hold equivalent accreditation. Preferred Qualifications Direct, hands-on CAHME accreditation experience — self-study authoring, evidence portfolio development, site visit preparation, or service as a CAHME peer reviewer or site visitor. Experience designing a graduate healthcare administration program, concentration, or certificate from the ground up. Experience with competency-based curriculum design, outcome mapping, and curricular scaffolding. Experience building assessment systems, signature assignments, and closing-the-loop reporting. Experience leading co-curricular programming, student case competitions, or professional development events. Five or more years of previous teaching experience. Prior fully online or hybrid graduate faculty experience. Professional certification such as FACHE, CPHQ, CRCR, CHFP, or equivalent. Experience applying artificial intelligence and analytics tools in healthcare operations or in course design. Competencies Planning and Priority Setting Efficient Time Management Drive for Results Action Oriented Organizational Agility Dealing with Ambiguity Functional/Technical Skills Integrity and Trust Managing Diversity Understanding Others Conflict Management Approachability Creativity Motivating Others Composure Effective Communication * This job will be posted for 30 days from the posting date.
