2. About the Opportunity:
The Health Information Specialist I role is responsible for processing medical record requests and managing patient health information with accuracy and confidentiality. This entry-level position ensures compliance with privacy regulations, supports efficient information release, and contributes to maintaining high standards of customer service and data security within the healthcare data environment.
3. Responsibilities:
• Receive and process patient health information requests following policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information.
• Use company and facility software effectively.
• Adhere to code of conduct and policies.
• Report work or site issues and volume fluctuations to management.
• Assist with additional duties as needed.
• Apply medical privacy regulations consistently to prevent unauthorized disclosures.
• Manage and safeguard patient health records in compliance with HIPAA.
• Prepare new patient charts and assemble medical records accurately.
• Create digital images of paperwork for electronic records.
• Respond to both internal and external patient record requests appropriately.
• Handle inbound and outbound calls and assist patient walk-ins.
• Perform administrative duties such as managing faxes, mail, and data entry.
• Meet site-specific productivity expectations.
• Schedule pickups and perform other assigned duties.
4. Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to commute between locations if necessary.
• Willingness to work overtime during peak periods.
• Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with office equipment.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Attention to detail for accurate and compliant medical record handling.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
• Capability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• The estimated base pay range per hour for this role is: $15—$15 USD
