About Abby Care: Powering the future of care at home for all of America.
Abby Care is building the leading AI-native platform for family-led care. America is facing a growing care crisis. Millions more people need care at home than ever. Over 50 million family caregivers support loved ones without the tools, training, or recognition they deserve.
We believe families are the largest untapped caregiving workforce in America, and that technology can help them deliver better care while driving stronger outcomes and greater transparency across the healthcare system.
Abby Care combines clinical oversight with an AI-powered platform to train, enable, and support family caregivers in delivering high-quality care at home. Our platform helps health plans and government partners better understand, verify, and improve care in the home. We expand access to care, reduce reliance on higher-cost settings, and help ensure public dollars are spent effectively.
We are proud to partner with leading health plans, providers, and community organizations and are backed by top VCs. We envision a future where family-led care is a core part of the healthcare system. Abby Care is building that future.
Join us in solving one of the most important challenges of our time.
The Opportunity:
Abby Care is scaling fast, expanding into new states and population verticals, and health plan partnerships are the engine of that growth. The Health Plan Strategy team reports directly to our CEO. We own this growth and partnership strategy, plus the execution and infrastructure that make those partnerships succeed. Few teams in a company this size have this much influence over where it goes next.
As Health Plan Partnerships Lead, you’ll report to the Head of Health Plan Strategy and own the work behind every new market and vertical: the research, the business case, the launch decision, and the pilot design. You’ll build the relationships with health plan leadership, launch the partnership, and own whether it works. Each new state and vertical adds scope, and you’ll build the team to take it on.
You’ll thrive here if you understand how health plans operate: their economics, what drives their priorities, how they evaluate and select partners, and how state Medicaid rules shape what they can do. You pair that knowledge with rigorous analysis, building the market models and business cases that justify a decision, and with strong relationship skills, earning the trust of health plan executives over time. This is a high-ownership role on a team that holds a high bar for its work, and we push each other’s thinking. If you want your decisions to directly influence the results of a fast-growing company, and a role that grows as fast as it does, we’d love to hear from you.
This position is a full-time role ideally based 4 days a week in our San Francisco office, but we are open to fully remote for the right candidate.
What you’ll work on:
Market Strategy
Build the business case for new states. Size the opportunity, map the competitive and health plan landscape, and define a state-specific entry strategy.
Own state market research. Understand the Medicaid (including waiver) programs in each state, how health plans participate in those programs and their priorities, and what the implications are for Abby Care’s business model. Ensure every program design is compliant and aligned with state incentive models.
Evaluate new verticals. Identify adjacent populations (e.g., Duals, PACE members) where our care model can extend, and build the initial business case and program parameters for those verticals.
Health Plan Partnerships
Set the growth roadmap for each state. Decide which health plans to approach next, our value proposition for each, and which leaders to engage.
Shape our value proposition. Define what Abby Care offers each health plan and why it matters to them, grounded in their priorities and economics.
Support negotiation and plan evaluation. Work with leadership on contract negotiations, and take part in each health plan’s evaluation of Abby Care.
Join strategic health plan meetings. Turn what you hear into adjustments to our programs and market-entry plans.
Structure pilots. Define the scope, success criteria, and path from pilot to scale for each new partner.
Program Design & Performance
Turn partner needs into go-live readiness. For each health plan partnership we stand up, serve as the customer’s voice: understand what they need from us, and then translate it into clear requirements for Abby Care’s product and engineering teams.
Model program economics. Build the financial model for each partnership, showing the impact on Abby Care’s financials, the volume and reimbursement targets we need to hit for it to work, and the value delivered to the health plan, including their ROI.
Set the success metrics. Define the clinical and operational targets each partnership will be measured against.
Own partnership performance. Our model combines clinical support with family caregiver enablement, and you’ll make sure its results are clearly visible in the data. For live partnerships, find what’s driving outcomes and where we’re falling short, and work cross-functionally to fix it.
Team Building & Leadership
Build the function. As scope grows, hire and lead a team across research, modeling, pilot design, and partnership performance.
Raise health plan fluency across the company. Help clinical, ops, and product teams understand how health plans work and what they need from us.
Create repeatable playbooks. Standardize how we research markets, build economic models, and package recommendations for executive and health plan audiences.
What You'll Have
5+ years of professional experience, with a strong preference for experience at a top-tier management consulting firm
Deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, with a focus on how payors operate, payor economics, and state Medicaid program and regulatory frameworks, and experience researching relevant regulations, state-by-state rules, and compliance requirements
Experience or excitement about designing programs from scratch, including understanding regulatory/stakeholder needs, defining value proposition, establishing clinical and financial metrics, and evaluating what's necessary for a pilot vs. full scale; ability to combine quantitative and qualitative perspectives and own resulting contract frameworks and business cases
Highly structured thinker who excels at crisp documentation, operational frameworks, and handoff packages for execution teams; able to work across multiple active partnerships simultaneously
Experience managing or mentoring team members, or clear readiness to build and lead a team as scope expands
Benefits:
Competitive compensation packages that reflect the value you bring. We reward our team for the impact of their work.
Comprehensive health coverage that works for you. Choose from high-quality medical dental and vision options, including a $0 deductible PPO and a company-funded HSA, alongside employer-paid life and disability insurance.

Financial savings benefits to support your future. We support your financial well-being with HSA contributions, optional FSA and commuter benefits, and full coverage of all 401(k) account fees (employer match not currently offered).
Paid parental leave to support your growing family. We provide up to 10 weeks of paid parental leave based on tenure, so you can focus on bonding and adjusting to life as your family grows.
