Position Summary: The Healthcare Credit Manager will be responsible for providing comprehensive and objective analysis of the financial condition and credit worthiness of prospective Panacea Financial healthcare borrowers (primarily Medical, Dental and Veterinarian Practices i.e. Practice Finance), as well performing continued due diligence related on prevailing industry and market conditions. The role will also ensure quality compliance and credit monitoring of Panacea Financial’s healthcare portfolio, while also supporting new business development and adhering to Panacea Financial’s overall risk appetite.

Essential Functions

  • Performs preliminary research on potential customers in conjunction with Panacea Financials front-line Practice Solution Consultants to determine alignment with Panacea Financial products and loan structure while also assisting Credit Analysts (when needed) in assessments of credit needs and alignment with Panacea Financial’s risk appetite
  • Prepares preliminary spreads, cashflow, and comprehensive credit approval memo for pre- approval, provides strong rationale for all credit declines and delivers fulsome credit packages to Panacea Financial Executive Credit Officer for review that are consistent with all applicable Policy and underwriting requirements, standards and lending limits; also supervises Credit Analysts in these functions; has oversight of BRR input, the setting of covenants, RAC peer review functions, the review of Term Sheets and Credit Analyst analysis
  • Ensures that all staff are knowledgeable of and operate within the applicable regulatory and compliance guidelines/policies & procedures (including but not limited to: AML, BSA, Privacy, Firewalls, Systems & Information Security etc.) and ensure that all staff complete required compliance training within required timelines
  • Assesses all incoming credit applications for completeness, ensuring they provide a high quality of risk assessment, credit structure analysis, due diligence, and credit presentation
  • Ensures appropriate balance between customer risk and interest rate pricing
  • Has sole approval authority on new Credits up to $500M and makes approval recommendations on all other exposure sizes to Panacea Financial Executive Credit Officer.
  • Ensures the overall portfolio is comprehensively monitored and controlled, adhering to and administered within approved guidelines and in line with established operating policies and procedures.
  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.

Marginal Functions

  • Interprets and applies Panacea Financial’s risk management strategy (both credit and operational) in close alignment with Panacea Financial Executive Credit Officer including the tracking of approval and decline rates
  • Implements or recommends necessary changes to Panacea Financial’s Credit Policy/Program, underwriting templates, peer review RAC and operating systems as needed to enhance efficiencies and identify/mitigate credit and operational risk issues
  • Understands changing market conditions and remains knowledgeable of relevant industry issues related to Practice Finance
  • Responsible for managing aspects of the customer relationship including, but not limited to, reviewing past-due and overdraft reports, signing off of covenant compliance and completing monthly monitoring and annual reviews; will also assist in developing strategy if loan default occurs in close consultation with Panacea Financial Executive Credit Officer
  • As team grows, will lead a team of Credit Analysts in monitoring loan covenants, loan delinquencies, and the annual review and renewal of existing credit
  • Maintain compliance with and adhere to all state and federal regulations and Bank policies and procedures, including, but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, SAR, CTR, FACT ACT, Community Reinvestment Act, EEO, and fair employment practices.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Educational & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, Business or related
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience participating in commercial lending or credit risk activities, with a specific focus on Practice Finance or healthcare lending

Minimum Skill Requirements

  • Demonstrates ability to thoroughly identify and mitigate risk
  • Must possess highly advanced credit analysis skills including the ability to read and assess personal and company financial statements, third-party business valuations, feasibility studies, CRE appraisals, industry and competitive analysis, business plans and start-up projections (completion of formal Credit Training Program at major U.S. Bank is strongly preferred)
  • Solid understanding of value-add credit structuring in a fast-paced banking environment
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively use personal computers and various software applications including Hubspot, Sageworks, Microsoft WORD EXCEL, OUTLOOK and other Primis systems and underwriting platforms
  • Understand federal regulations regarding handling of loan applications from application submission through record retention.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills

Physical Demands

In terms of an 8-hour workday, “occasional” equals 1% to 33%, “frequent” equals 34% to 66% and “continuous” equals 67% to 100%. However, some duties are performed monthly, annually or sporadically throughout the year and are essential functions.
