Job Summary: The Healthcare Data Governance Analyst role focuses on managing data governance strategies within a healthcare organization, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory standards like HIPAA and HITECH. This role collaborates across various departments to establish data governance frameworks, manage data quality, and support data stewardship initiatives, ensuring the effective use of healthcare data for business and clinical analytics. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: 1. Data Governance Strategy & Framework Assist in creating and implementation of data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures in alignment with healthcare industry standards and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with senior leadership to define data governance goals and objectives and align them with organizational priorities. Create and maintain a clear data dictionary to ensure transparency in how reports and dashboards calculate and represent data metrics. 2. Data Quality Management Establish data quality standards and develop control processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness across healthcare data systems. Conduct ongoing data quality assessments and implement improvements to resolve discrepancies. 3. Data Stewardship Support the establishment of data stewardship roles across clinical, operational, and IT teams to ensure proper data management and accountability. Provide training and resources to data stewards to support best practices in data governance. 4. Compliance & Security Ensure the organization adheres to healthcare regulations regarding data privacy and security (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH). Develop and implement security measures to protect sensitive healthcare data and prevent breaches. 5. Stakeholder Collaboration Work closely with IT, clinical, operational, and business teams to identify data needs and implement effective data governance practices. Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on data governance and provide expert guidance to internal stakeholders. 6. Data Reporting & Analytics Oversee the reporting of key data governance metrics to assess the success of initiatives and continuously improve data management practices. Collaborate with data analytics teams to ensure data quality for decision-making, reporting, and clinical outcome analysis. Core Competencies and Skills: Data Governance Knowledge: Strong understanding of data governance principles, metadata management, data quality, and stewardship practices. Healthcare IT Systems: Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), health information exchanges (HIEs), and interoperability standards. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify data governance challenges and develop actionable solutions. Communication Skills: Strong ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Project Management: Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing projects. Clinical Workflow Knowledge: Understanding of healthcare operations and clinical workflows. Certifications: Certification in Health Information Management (e.g., RHIA, RHIT) or data governance (e.g., CDMP) is preferred. Qualifications Educational / Minimum Requirements: Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree (e.g., in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration) is preferred. Experience: At least 8 years of experience in healthcare data governance, health informatics, or data management within a healthcare setting. Familiarity with healthcare data standards (HL7, ICD-10, SNOMED CT) and experience with data integration platforms. Understanding of healthcare compliance and data privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH) is essential. State/Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements: None Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements: General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually.
