COMPANY OVERVIEW
KKR is a leading global investment firm that offers alternative asset management as well as capital markets and insurance solutions. KKR aims to generate attractive investment returns by following a patient and disciplined investment approach, employing world-class people, and supporting growth in its portfolio companies and communities. KKR sponsors investment funds that invest in private equity, credit and real assets and has strategic partners that manage hedge funds. KKR’s insurance subsidiaries offer retirement, life and reinsurance products under the management of Global Atlantic Financial Group. References to KKR’s investments may include the activities of its sponsored funds and insurance subsidiaries.
Helix is KKR's newly established investment platform focused on building the integrated infrastructure that powers the digital economy including data centers, fiber networks, wireless infrastructure, and power generation assets. This new confidential company will be led Adam Selipsky. The organization is supported by a bench of operators, advisors, and KKR resources, creating a world class team spanning power, compute, connectivity, and applications. Together, the team combines hyperscale execution experience with KKR’s global operating and governance backbone. This is an investment under KKR's infrastructure strategy. KKR established its global infrastructure strategy in 2008 and has since been one of the most active private infrastructure investors globally across a broad range of critical infrastructure assets. With a team of more than 115 dedicated investment professionals possessing an unrivaled track record, the strategy currently oversees approximately $60 billion AUM globally across Core, Energy, and Climate investments.
ROLE SUMMARY
Helix's power strategy centers on a near-term sprint to capture premium behind-the-meter (BTM) powered land opportunities in permissive, gas-connected markets while building a durable, longer-term land and power portfolio to support the AI infrastructure buildout. Helix will do that in partnership with Vistra and customizing projects for hyperscaler customers.
We are seeking a commercially driven Vice President of Business Development to lead origination of powered land and power project opportunities that feed this strategy, across greenfield development, development partnerships, JV-style structures, and project acquisitions.
This is a boots-on-the-ground role. The ideal candidate can “knock on doors,” has existing, active relationships with land, power, and digital infrastructure developers, understands the data center market, and can translate raw opportunities into deals Helix can fund, structure, or bring in-house.
REPORTING & STRUCTURE
Reports to Helix's EVP, Head of Energy, with close, regular coordination with the Helix Core Working Group to ensure sourced opportunities are actionable rather than speculative.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and manage a pipeline of digital infrastructure and data center-oriented power opportunities (powered land, greenfield sites, and standalone power projects) that support both the data center funnel and Helix's broader power strategy.
- Source opportunities directly — greenfield development, JV-style partnerships, project acquisitions, and M&A-adjacent opportunities — by working developers, landowners, infrastructure companies, and other market participants.
- Shortlist and approach land parcels and customers in gas-connected, permissive markets, prioritizing ERCOT and the Southeast, with the Mid-South and West as secondary priority regions.
- Identify, qualify, and advance opportunities where power availability, land, interconnection, development status, and data center demand create a compelling path forward.
- Own utility relationships and load interconnection — work directly with transmission utilities and RTOs (ERCOT, PJM, WECC, and others) to advance interconnection processes, from queue positioning and study processes through interconnection and facility agreements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with project developers, power and infrastructure companies, real estate and land counterparties, and other partners who can bring actionable opportunities to Helix.
- Evaluate prospective opportunities with Vistra and other partners, and help determine which should be funded, acquired, partnered, developed internally, or deprioritized.
- Support due diligence on data center and power projects under acquisition — site control, interconnection agreements and security obligations, environmental (ESA Phase I/II), title, and land parcel-level diligence.
- Support structuring of the broader “powered land plus” offering — load enablement, fiber pathways, water, permitting/community relations, and sustainability services — that differentiates Helix's sites beyond raw land.
- Support early commercial structuring — term sheets, MIPAs, ROFRs, and JV arrangements — with a working understanding of economics, risk, timeline, counterparties, and development path.
- Operate effectively in a lean, growth-stage environment, balancing strategic judgment with hands-on execution.
- Represent Helix with credibility, discretion, and strong commercial instincts in confidential, market-facing conversations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Senior business development, project origination, or commercial experience in digital infrastructure, data centers, power infrastructure, or adjacent infrastructure markets.
- Power generation background across natural gas, renewables, and/or battery storage.
- Meaningful understanding of the data center ecosystem, including how power, land, development readiness, and infrastructure constraints shape project viability.
- Demonstrated ability to source opportunities directly through relationship-building, market outreach, partner conversations, and creative deal identification — this is a relationship-driven, “boots on the ground” role, not a desk-bound one.
- Existing, active relationships with land aggregators/brokers, power developers, and digital infrastructure developers, ideally with a presence in ERCOT and/or Southeast markets.
- Experience evaluating early-stage partnerships, JVs, or M&A-adjacent opportunities, and leading due diligence through to close.
- Commercial judgment to distinguish high-quality opportunities from attractive but impractical leads.
- Strong communication skills and the maturity to represent a confidential platform externally.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, high ownership, and comfort operating with ambiguity in a small, fast-moving environment.
- Familiarity with utility-scale power, renewable energy, firm power, load interconnection, land control, or behind-the-meter power solutions.
- Experience working in or with growth-stage companies, infrastructure platforms, developers, IPPs, or capital-backed project companies.
