Show job description

Are you ready to shape the future of high-voltage substations with us? Do you want to contribute to complex energy infrastructure projects and help enable the green transition? Whether you already bring solid substation design experience or you are looking to grow further within high-voltage primary engineering, we would like to hear from you.

Join us in delivering robust, safe, and efficient high-voltage solutions across all project stages — from early concept studies and layouts to design, specification, tender support, FAT/SAT participation, and site-related engineering support. Your work address will be at our office in Copenhagen or Aarhus.

Your new role

As our new Substation Primary Engineer, you will be involved in the design and engineering of high-voltage substations and associated primary systems. You will work in multidisciplinary project teams and contribute with technical expertise across substation layouts, high-voltage equipment selection, busbar design, transformer engineering, earthing, and lightning protection.

You will be involved in all project stages, from initial concept and planning to specification, design, procurement, and commissioning. Working in a collaborative and innovative environment, you will have the opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to the development of energy solutions alongside a team of dedicated professionals.

Your main responsibilities will be

  • Lead and review the primary design of AIS and GIS substations up to 400 kV
  • Develop substation layouts, bay arrangements, busbar systems, earthing and lightning protection solutions
  • Select and specify high-voltage equipment and prepare technical specifications, tender documentation and equipment data sheets
  • Perform and verify key design calculations, including current capacity, short-circuit forces, voltages etc.
  • Coordinate technical interfaces with protection and control team, cables, civil, structural, and other relevant disciplines
  • Support procurement, supplier follow-up, design reviews, FAT/SAT and commissioning activities
  • Work closely with clients and project managers on technical solutions, scope, risks, estimates and change management
  • Provide technical guidance, quality assurance, and mentoring to strengthen our primary engineering capabilities

About you

We are looking for someone with strong technical skills in high-voltage primary engineering and a collaborative mindset. We will support your professional development, but we also expect that you will bring relevant qualifications such as:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Several years of relevant experience with primary design of transmission or distribution substations
  • Experience with primary design of transmission and distribution substations
  • Practical and professional experience with high-voltage substation engineering
  • Overall knowledge to protection and control design, as this helps you understand the full picture of the entire high-voltage substation
  • Familiarity with applicable standards, design calculations, and technical specifications
  • Experience from consulting, utilities, OEMs, EPC contractors, or similar is an advantage
  • Fluent in Danish and English, both spoken and written
  • Possess a valid driver’s license (Category B)
  • A structured and quality-focused approach to your daily work tasks
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for sharing knowledge with your colleagues

What we can offer you

  • Investment in your development
  • Leaders you can rely on, guided by our leadership principles
  • Be valued for the unique person you are
  • Great inspiration from colleagues, clients and projects
  • A daily work life with the possibility of working from home, access to fitness facilities, canteen arrangement and social activities
