Our services include 100% affordable housing at 21 locations, family violence program, Holocaust survivor assistance, geriatric social work, crisis intervention and the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 120 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City.
Position Summary:
The role of the Holocaust Survivor Case Worker is to work effectively with Holocaust survivors who require case management to successfully age in place. This position will focus on providing holistic services through a trauma-informed patient-centered practice model. The Case Worker must present as warm, tolerant, and eager to support this vulnerable population.
* Please note: This is a hybrid position (three days on-site, two days remote), with Tuesdays and Thursdays as mandatory in-office days. *
Principal Responsibilities:
Focusing specifically on the Holocaust Survivor population, the Case Worker will:
Provide trauma-informed, patient-centered case management services, including financial assistance, benefits applications, and referrals.
Offer support both in clients' homes and at the main office.
Assist in organizing socialization events for survivors.
Collaborate with partner agencies and organizations that support Holocaust survivors.
Complete and submit applications for assistance while maintaining accurate records and database entries (e.g., Salesforce).
Document client interactions in a timely manner according to program and agency guidelines.
Participate in weekly supervision and bi-monthly departmental meetings.
Work effectively as part of a team alongside other program staff.
Deliver presentations about the program to partner agencies.
Manage a large caseload while providing comprehensive client support and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Address and mitigate client crises with professionalism and efficiency.
Uphold ethical case management standards to balance client and program needs.
Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Competencies:
Ability to build trust and establish rapport with clients while demonstrating a deep understanding and respect for their experiences.
Proficiency in case management, particularly with seniors and Holocaust survivors.
Sensitivity to cultural, religious, and historical backgrounds of Holocaust survivors and willingness to seek guidance when needed.
Commitment to ethical and integrity-driven interventions.
Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to effectively communicate with clients, families, and partner agencies with patience and professionalism.
Strong planning and organizational skills with a client-focused approach.
Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
Skill and Education:
Bachelor's degree (BA, BS, or BSW).
Fluency in Russian (required).
2+ years of experience in case management working with the geriatric population, preferably Holocaust survivors or other trauma-impacted populations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, case management databases (e.g., Salesforce), and electronic record-keeping.
Special Requirements:
Willingness to travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City via public transportation.
Compensation:
$45,000 - $55,000 per year.
