As a dynamic and growing accountancy firm, we are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to support our expanding region in Scotland, which now comprises three businesses and approximately 200 employees.
This is a varied and hands-on role where you will act as the trusted HR contact for colleagues, managers, Directors and Partners across Scotland, while working closely with our central HR team based in the Midlands.
You will need to be confident working independently, resilient under pressure and comfortable supporting a diverse range of stakeholders, each with different priorities, requirements and ways of working.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary HR contact for Scotland, supporting three businesses and circa 200 employees across a broad range of people matters.
- Advise and coach managers on employee relations, performance, attendance, wellbeing, engagement and day to-day people management issues.
- Build trusted relationships with employees, managers, Directors and Partners, understanding local priorities while supporting consistent groupwide standards.
- Manage and support formal HR processes, including investigations, hearings and sensitive meetings, with professionalism and discretion.
- Support onboarding and induction activity so new colleagues have a positive, consistent and well-organised start.
- Work with the central HR team on projects, process improvements and groupwide initiatives, ensuring the Scottish businesses are represented and supported.
- Provide practical guidance to managers on goal setting, Impact and Growth reviews, development planning and people management capability.
- Support learning and development activity, including local training with the L&D Manager and use of Dains Learning platform.
- Help ensure HR policies, procedures and guidance are applied consistently and remain aligned with good practice and employment legislation.
- Monitor people trends, including sickness, performance and employee relations themes, and provide insight and recommendations to support effective decision making.
- Work with Finance and central teams to ensure employee and payroll information is accurate, complete and processed on time.
- Promote the Dains group values and contribute to a positive, engaged and supportive working environment.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a HR advisory role, ideally within a multi-site or multi-business environment.
- A strong understanding of employee relations, HR policies and employment law, with the ability to apply this in a practical and balanced way.
- Confidence using HR systems, Microsoft Office and reporting tools to maintain accurate records and produce useful people data.
- CIPD qualification or equivalent HR experience would be desirable.

- You will be confident advising and influencing senior stakeholders, including managers, Directors and Partners.
- You will be personable, professional and approachable, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
- You will be comfortable managing competing stakeholder requirements, challenging constructively where appropriate and finding practical, balanced outcomes.
- You will use sound judgement and discretion when handling confidential, sensitive or complex people matters.
