About Volta Volta is building The Utility of Compute™ - AI infrastructure that's as dependable, plentiful, and available as electricity, for every organization that needs it. We're the world's first fully vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform – combining institutional capital, powered land, data centers, compute and software under one founder-led enterprise. That means fewer intermediaries, faster deployment, and infrastructure built to scale with the most ambitious AI projects in the world. We're a team that moves fast, thinks big, and takes ownership. If you want to help build the infrastructure layer the next decade of AI runs on, we want to hear from you. The Role We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to support the growth of our US employee population as Volta scales across the United States. This is a hands-on HRBP role in a fast-moving, early-stage environment. You will partner with managers and employees across the US, supporting workforce planning, onboarding, employee relations, change management, performance management, policy implementation and day-to-day people matters. You will be the trusted People partner for our US employees while operating as an integral member of our global People team. Working closely with the VP People and colleagues across the business, you will help build the scalable, compliant People foundations that enable a high-growth AI infrastructure company to succeed. This role is ideal for someone who is commercial, pragmatic and solutions-focused—equally comfortable coaching a manager through a sensitive employee issue as rolling up their sleeves to design a process that doesn't yet exist. What You'll Do Partner with US leaders and managers on workforce planning, employee relations, performance, engagement and organizational change. Provide practical HR guidance on federal, state and local employment legislation, with particular emphasis on California employment law. Foster an inclusive, engaging and high-performing workplace, supporting the overall employee experience for US-based employees. Coach managers on performance management, feedback, employee development and difficult conversations. Implement HR policies, processes and programs in the US, aligned with global standards and best practices. Partner with the wider People team on compensation, benefits and equity programs. Work closely with Payroll, Finance and Legal to ensure compliant and effective employment practices. Continuously improve People processes to ensure they remain scalable, compliant and fit for a rapidly growing organization. Drive employee communications and engagement initiatives that reinforce Volta's culture and values. Contribute to global People initiatives, ensuring the US perspective is represented while supporting a "one global team" approach. What You'll Bring 5+ years' experience as an HR Business Partner, ideally within a rapidly scaling AI, cloud infrastructure, technology or engineering-led organization. Strong working knowledge of multi-state US employment law, including California. Experience supporting managers in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Strong employee relations and manager coaching skills. Experience working in an early-stage company where processes are still being built. A practical, commercial and solutions-oriented approach. Excellent judgement, discretion and communication skills. The ability to balance hands-on operational delivery with genuine strategic business partnering. Familiarity with US compensation, benefits and equity programs. Experience working as part of an international or global People team. What Success Looks Like Managers feel confident and well supported in leading their teams. US employees enjoy a consistent, positive and engaging employee experience. Employee relations matters are managed proactively, fairly and effectively. US People processes are scalable, compliant and aligned with global standards. The VP People has a trusted HR Business Partner on the ground in the US, helping build a high-performing organization while operating as part of one global People team. The base salary range for this role is $180,000 - $200,00 . Your starting salary will be determined by factors such as your skills, experience and the value you bring to the role. We are committed to paying competitively while maintaining fairness and consistency across our organization. In addition to base salary, eligible employees benefit from our total rewards package, which includes a discretionary bonus, equity awards and a comprehensive benefits offering.
