HR Lead

Working Hours: Volunteer role (10–20 hours per week)

Global Left is a new international organisation connecting progressive political actors committed to democracy, equality, and social justice.

The organisation builds a global platform for cooperation between parliamentarians, political parties, policy experts, and civic actors working toward progressive political coordination and policy development.

About the Job

The HR Lead will help build and manage Global Left’s HR function during its establishment phase. The role will take the lead on recruitment, onboarding, team support, HR processes, and organisational culture, while working closely with leadership and team leads.

This is a flexible and hands-on volunteer role suited to someone with an interest or experience in HR, recruitment, people management, or organisational development who would like to take ownership of an HR function within a growing international organisation.

We are currently recruiting an HR Lead to help develop our people and HR practices as the organisation grows.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end recruitment, including job postings, candidate sourcing, interviews, selection, and onboarding.
• Work with leadership and team leads to understand staffing needs and support effective recruitment.
• Develop simple and creative recruitment strategies to attract motivated and diverse candidates.
• Ensure a positive and well-organised candidate and onboarding experience.
• Help develop HR policies, processes, and systems suitable for a remote international organisation.
• Support team engagement, communication, and a positive organisational culture.
• Maintain organised and confidential HR records.
• Support performance, development, and offboarding processes where needed.
• Help promote inclusive and equitable HR practices.
• Take on other HR and people-related projects as the organisation develops.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience or a strong interest in HR, recruitment, people management, organisational development, or a related area.
• Experience with NGOs, political organisations, civic initiatives, social movements, or other mission-driven organisations is a plus.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently and take initiative.
• An interest in building processes and helping shape a growing organisation.
• The ability to work effectively in an international, remote team.
• Interest in progressive political cooperation and Global Left’s mission.
