Job Description
Chep, A Brambles Company
Drive a More Resilient, Risk-Intelligent Future Across AMETA. At CHEP, a Brambles company, we're strengthening how risk is understood, governed and managed across our AMETA region.
As our new HSE Risk & Resilience Lead, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of operational risk and resilience across a diverse international network spanning Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and beyond.
This is a rare opportunity to influence how a major global organisation identifies, manages and responds to its most significant operational risks while helping to build the confidence of leaders, teams and stakeholders across the region.
Why This Role Is Different:
This is not a traditional HSE compliance role. We're seeking a strategic risk leader who can establish a coherent risk architecture, strengthen critical risk management and embed resilience into practical business decision-making across AMETA.
You'll work closely with operational leaders to improve how risk is understood, governed and managed, ensuring frameworks drive meaningful action rather than becoming administrative exercises.
Success will come from your ability to connect risk management with operational outcomes, helping leaders gain confidence that the organisation's most critical risks are understood, controlled and continuously improving.
This role will appeal to someone who enjoys building capability, influencing strategy and improving organisational maturity across complex and diverse operating environments.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead the development and maturity of regional risk and resilience frameworks.
- Strengthen critical risk and critical control programs across AMETA.
- Improve visibility, governance and reporting of key operational risks.
- Partner with leaders to strengthen risk ownership and decision-making capability.
- Support resilience planning and broader organisational preparedness initiatives.
- Drive consistency in risk management practices across multiple geographies.
- Translate complex risk information into practical insights that influence business decisions.
- Build a stronger risk-aware culture and improve organisational resilience across the region.
What Will Make You Successful:
We're interested in leaders who can demonstrate:
- Experience developing, implementing or transforming operational risk, resilience or governance frameworks.
- A strong understanding of critical risk management and the controls required to manage high-consequence risks.
- The ability to establish structure, clarity and consistency across complex risk environments.
- Proven success partnering with senior operational and Supply Chain leaders to improve decision-making and risk ownership.
- Experience building organisational capability and improving risk maturity across large, complex or geographically dispersed operations.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance governance requirements with operational realities.
- The ability to translate complex risk information into clear, practical actions and business outcomes.
- Experience within industries where risk management, operational discipline and resilience are critical to success, including mining, aviation, energy, industrial operations, logistics or major hazards environments.
- Strong influencing skills with the ability to challenge constructively and build credibility without direct authority.
- A track record of establishing, transforming or significantly strengthening risk management, resilience or governance capability, rather than simply operating mature frameworks that already existed.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who has built, transformed or significantly improved organisational capability. If your experience has been built on creating meaningful change rather than maintaining the status quo, we'd love to hear from you.
Location Flexibility
This regional role can be based in:
- Australia
- New Zealand
- South Africa
The successful candidate will work across the AMETA region and should be comfortable collaborating with diverse teams, stakeholders and operational environments.
Qualifications
Please note: Due to local employment requirements, candidates applying from South Africa must hold a completed Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent qualification) to be considered. This requirement does not apply to candidates applying from Australia or New Zealand.
Why CHEP?
CHEP helps move more goods to more people, in more places than any other organisation on earth. As part of Brambles, you'll join a global business built on sustainability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact at a regional level, working with senior leaders to strengthen risk management, improve resilience and help shape the future of HSE across AMETA.
To support our fast-paced organisation that keeps the worlds’ supply chain moving, applications for this role will close in 28 days from the day of posting.
