Universal Rail Systems is seeking a Human Resources Administrator to join our Human Resources team supporting Canada East operations, on a 4-month contract. In this role, you'll contribute to a wide range of HR activities, while helping create a positive employee experience and supporting the continued growth of our organization.

The Opportunity

As a Human Resources Administrator, you will play an important role in supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, and HR administration. Working closely with hiring managers and HR team members, you'll help ensure our HR processes are effective, efficient, and aligned with organizational objectives.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience across multiple areas of Human Resources while supporting a dynamic and growing organization. This position is currently seeking applicants interested in a full-time, 4-month contract.


What You'll Do

  • Coordinate and support the recruitment process, including:
    • Preparing job advertisements
    • Screening applications
    • Scheduling and conducting interviews
    • Completing reference checks
    • Preparing employment offers on behalf of hiring managers
  • Conduct new hire orientations and onboarding activities
  • Assist employees with completing onboarding documentation and required pre-employment requirements
  • Ensure all required testing, certifications, and training are completed prior to start dates
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files and records
  • Assist with employee data entry and maintenance within the organization's HRIS platform (Dayforce).
  • Support HR projects and initiatives as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

What You Bring

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed an accredited Human Resources post-secondary program and/or 1+ years' experience in a HR role.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with:
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Strong customer-service orientation and professionalism
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-through skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative HR team environment
